Job Title: Quality Associate – Subassembly and Kit Building Inspection
Department: Kitting, Quality
Reports To: Quality Manager
Location: Yulee, FL
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt / Hourly
Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Hours may vary with seasonal volume)

Position Summary

The Quality Associate – Subassembly and Kit Building Inspection plays a vital role in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and presentation of assembled products and kits. This position is responsible for conducting detailed in-process and final inspections to verify that components are correct, complete, properly labeled, securely packaged, and within acceptable quality standards. The role requires strong attention to detail, excellent documentation skills , and the flexibility to support a variety of quality functions including incoming material inspections , inventory audits , and root cause analysis (RCA) .

Key Responsibilities

Subassembly & Kit Inspection

  • Conduct in-process and final inspections of subassemblies and completed kits to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Verify that all required components are present, correctly labeled, and within expiration dates.
  • Assess packaging integrity, particularly for fragile materials, to prevent damage during storage or transit.
  • Adhere strictly to SOPs and inspection criteria for quality, labeling, and packaging.

Incoming Materials Support

  • Assist with the inspection of incoming materials based on AQL sampling plans.
  • Verify material counts, weights, labeling accuracy, and physical conformance prior to inventory release.
  • Record inspection results using Excel, Microsoft Power Apps, or tablet-based inspection tools.

Inventory Audit Support

  • Participate in bin audits and targeted checks to address defects or discrepancies.
  • Investigate and help resolve inventory issues such as missing, mislabeled, or damaged goods.
  • Support root cause investigations and implement preventive measures.

Documentation & Quality Reporting

  • Document all inspection outcomes and non-conformances clearly and accurately.
  • Maintain comprehensive inspection logs, audit records, and rejection reports.
  • Contribute to weekly quality summaries and trend analysis related to defects and audits.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with the subassembly, kitting, inventory, and receiving teams to address and resolve quality concerns.
  • Escalate real-time issues to the Quality Team and Production Leads.
  • Provide actionable feedback on areas for process improvement or recurring quality issues.

Problem Solving & RCA

  • Conduct independent root cause analysis (RCA) using tools such as 5 Whys and Fishbone diagrams.
  • Present findings and support Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) activities.
  • Track resolution progress through Excel or visual management systems (e.g., whiteboards).

5S & Area Maintenance

  • Maintain inspection zones and quality control areas in alignment with 5S principles.
  • Ensure proper organization, labeling, and segregation of approved vs. rejected items.
  • Support general cleanliness, orderliness, and audit-readiness of the quality workspaces.

Required Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in quality inspection, subassembly, or kit packaging.
  • Proven ability to handle fragile components and ensure packaging integrity.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and record-keeping.
  • Familiarity with Excel, tablets, and digital inspection tools.
  • Ability to follow SOPs, work instructions, and defined inspection standards.
