Acquisitions Editor – Gale Primary Sources (GPS) We are seeking an experienced publishing professional to join our Gale Primary Sources (GPS) team within the Higher Education division. In this role, you will shape a portfolio of digital primary source collections focusing on modern history. What you’ll do Lead end‑to‑end acquisition: identify new content opportunities, build business cases, negotiate agreements, and guide projects through production and publication. Develop and manage digital archive modules and series, supporting the financial goals of the GPS initiative. Conduct market research and financial analysis for product approvals, including sales history reviews, user feedback, P&L analysis, and competitor comparisons. Negotiate content acquisition contracts and oversee final terms with external partners. Coordinate with in‑house production to convert content to publication, including metadata remediation, copyright clearance, privacy compliance, and redaction protocols. Provide product information to marketing, sales, and customer teams, writing marketing copy and product descriptions. Qualifications Degree in history, humanities, or equivalent experience (advanced degree highly preferred). Strong analytical, financial literacy, and problem‑solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication; proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience in publishing, digital humanities, or academic archival work is preferred. Ability to own the product life cycle from inception to post‑publication maintenance. Capacity to work in a team setting and adapt to changing market conditions. Travel & Location Remote position; may require travel within and possibly outside candidate’s home nation as part of acquisition duties.
