Special Education Coordinator

Position SPECIAL EDUCATION COORDINATOR Location Belle Plaine Public Schools Start Date August 24, 2026 Reports To Director of Student Support Services Licensure Master's Degree or higher in Educational Administration and Supervision from an accredited college or university. Minimum of five years' experience in the area of Special Education. Licensure (or working towards licensure) by the State of Minnesota as Director of Special Education. Job Summary The Special Education Coordinator develops and provides ongoing leadership for coordinated student support services with students on IEPs. Helps guide the development and implementation of goals and philosophies of the Belle Plaine School District and any applicable Federal or State mandates, which provides education and special services for students with special needs. Maintain open lines of communication to resolve conflicts and concerns with staff, parents, support personnel and community members. Design and coordinate services for eligible students; preparing and recommending program additions, modifications and deletions to best meet the needs of students with disabilities. Qualifications The Special Services Coordinator must have knowledge, skills and abilities: Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of school administration, special education curriculum and program development for special students and issues related to special education law and due process; comprehensive skills establishing procedures to adhere to changing laws and regulations. Job Duties Alternative Delivery of Specialized Instructional Services (ADSIS) Coordinated Early Intervening Services (CEIS) Student Support Services coordination Assessment coordination and planning District rep at IEP meetings Coordinate Child Study Team meetings MTSS Facilitate training and communication ensuring building and program administrators and special education teachers are current and informed on special education services, issues and rules.
