Managing Director - Investment Banking - Banker - New Jersey or Minnesota

Job Summary

The Managing Director will provide capital markets services including public offerings of equity and convertible debt, PIPEs, registered direct offerings, and private placements of equity and debt securities, integrating Northland’s expertise in equity sales and trading and investment banking.

Responsibilities

• Drive activities and strategies for sell-side and buy-side engagements.
• Partner with the institutional sales team, traders, and internal and external partners to develop, market, and deliver complex solutions to clients.
• Lead preparation of documentation and materials for transactions.
• Market and negotiate the transaction, leading deal teams in the execution of financing transactions.
• Work with investment bankers to ensure prompt and effective execution of transactions.
• Support new business development efforts, including identification and prioritization of potential clients, development and delivery of pitches, and marketing at industry events.
• Develop junior team members through formal project work and informal coaching and mentoring.
• Adhere to and enforce compliance with firm and regulatory requirements.
• Travel 50%+ of the time to serve client needs.

Qualifications

• Relevant industry experience in consumer, industrials, media, communications, energy, financials, real estate, materials, or utilities sectors.
• Significant experience in the execution of financing transactions, including sell-side, buy-side, and debt transactions.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, provide complex financial analysis, and develop appropriate corporate finance solutions with a proven track record of executed deals.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated work ethic and commitment to a team atmosphere.
• Strong attention to detail, multitasking, and time-management skills.
• Travel 50%+ expected.
• BA/BA degree required; MBA highly desirable.
• Minimum of five years in investment banking or capital markets with at least one year at Director level or equivalent.
• FINRA SIE, 5, 63 and Series 79 license (or equivalent registrations) required.
