Manager Logistics and Transportation

Our Company Amerita Overview The Manager, Logistics & Transportation is responsible for the strategic management, optimization, and oversight of the organization’s small parcel and courier network. This role will lead relationships with national, regional, and local courier providers while developing greater visibility into transportation spend, cost per package, service performance, and opportunities for network optimization.The ideal candidate brings 5–7 years of progressive experience managing small parcel, last-mile delivery, and/or courier services in a multi-location environment. This position is specifically focused on small parcel and courier transportation; prior truckload (TL), less-than-truckload (LTL), or freight management experience is not required.The Manager will partner closely with Procurement, Finance, Operations, and business stakeholders to establish a more standardized, data-driven approach to courier management while maintaining the service levels regional, and local small parcel and courier providersServes as the primary subject matter expert for small parcel, courier, expedited, same-day, next-day, and last-mile transportation servicesDevelops and maintains strong relationships with courier providersEstablishes service expectations, performance standards, escalation procedures, and governance processes across the courier networkEvaluates the appropriate use of national couriers, regional providers, and local courier services based on cost, service requirements, and geographic coverageSupports operational teams in resolving recurring delivery, billing, service, and courier performance issueDevelops comprehensive visibility into transportation spend across courier providers, locations, business units, and service levelsEstablishes and monitors key metrics including cost per package, cost per delivery, package volume, accessorial charges, expedites usage, service-level performance, and spend by providerIdentifies cost drivers, trends, anomalies, and opportunities for savings or service improvementPartners with Finance and Procurement to improve invoice visibility, cost allocation, budgeting, forecasting, and transportation spend reportingSupports the implementation and ongoing management of parcel analytics, transportation spend management, freight audit, or similar technology platformsDevelops dashboards and recurring reporting that provide leadership with clear visibility into transportation cost and performanceIdentifies opportunities to consolidate volume, reduce unnecessary courier usage, improve routing decisions, and leverage organizational scaleDevelops business cases and recommendations for transportation cost-reduction initiativesTracks and validates realized savings from sourcing and optimization initiativesDevelops courier scorecards and key performance indicators for cost, service, reliability, responsiveness, and delivery performanceConducts regular business reviews with strategic providersIdentifies underperforming providers, locations, service levels, or shipping practices and develop corrective action plansEvaluates opportunities to standardize courier selection and shipping processes across a geographically dispersed organizationBalances cost optimization with operational requirements, delivery urgency, customer needs, and service continuityIdentifies opportunities to automate courier selection, shipment tracking, invoice auditing, and transportation reportingPartners with Procurement, Finance, Operations, Accounts Payable, and local business leaders to improve transportation processes and controlsTranslates transportation data into actionable recommendations for business and executive leadershipDevelops policies, standards, and best practices for small parcel and courier usageSupports change management associated with courier transitions, technology implementations, and transportation process improvementsServes as the internal subject matter expert for small parcel and courier transportation Qualifications RequiredBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Finance, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience5–7 years of progressive experience in transportation, logistics, small parcel, courier management, last-mile delivery, or a related fieldDemonstrated experience managing small parcel and/or courier providersExperience analyzing transportation spend, package volumes, courier rates, and service performanceStrong analytical skills with the ability to translate large transportation datasets into actionable insightsStrong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience working with reporting, analytics, or business intelligence toolsStrong vendor management, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skillsAbility to work cross-functionally with operational, financial, procurement, and executive stakeholdersPreferredExperience managing a large, geographically dispersed, multi-location courier networkExperience with parcel spend management, transportation management, freight audit/payment, and analytics platformsExperience developing scorecards and cost-per-package reportingExperience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence toolsExperience implementing or improving
