MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (FULL TIME)

Position: Maintenance Technician (Full Time) – Immediate hiring. Location: Belmont Abbey College – 201 Wimmer Circle, Belmont, NC 28012 (other district locations available). Online applications only. Schedule: Monday‑Friday, 7:00 am–3:30 pm, full‑time with 24/7 on‑call duties. Flexible part‑time options available as needed. Pay: $20.00–$23.00 per hour. Job Summary Perform a range of skilled maintenance duties related to facility engineering and maintenance functions. Provide field leadership, maintain quality assurance, support training, and manage escalations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist in decision‑making for normal and complex repairs; report major issues to supervisor and foreman. Construct, finish, install, maintain, and repair electrical and mechanical systems using power and hand tools. Clean, lubricate, service, repair, or diagnose HVAC, electrical, mechanical building systems, sterilizers, sprinkler and standpipe systems, transport systems, electronic signaling systems, fire alarm systems, and other specialty equipment. Supervise and lead a group of workers on projects. Read, comprehend, and convey detailed instructions verbally and in writing. Teach advanced maintenance skills to department members. Review work of outside vendors and licensed maintenance workers; create punch lists. Report on and repair discrepancies as assigned. Analyze and correct complex building system problems independently or as part of a team. Maintain logs, perform rounds, and complete work orders, tests, and inspections. Recommend modifications or improvements to preventive maintenance systems. Serve as a member of the facility emergency response team. Perform any other duties as assigned. Qualifications Four years of skilled trade school or maintenance vocational schooling. Five years of experience as a maintenance technician in an institutional setting. Two years of experience as a licensed Journeyman in a specialized trade. Master license in one trade or two of the following: Journeyman Electrical License, Registered ACR Technician with EPA Refrigerant certification, or Journeyman Plumber License. Valid driver’s license.
