Job Description
This role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining complex blow mold and high-speed manufacturing equipment, including conveyor systems, palletizing and strapping equipment, compressors, chillers, and associated electrical and wiring systems. The Industrial Electrician performs advanced electrical and mechanical diagnostics, conducts preventive maintenance, and ensures reliable operation of industrial control systems and instrumentation in a modern, climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain blow mold equipment and other high-speed manufacturing machinery, including conveyor systems, palletizing and strapping equipment, compressors, chillers, and cooling towers.
• Repair and maintain mechanical equipment such as conveyor systems, hydraulic equipment, pneumatic equipment, and related production machinery.
• Perform repairs on electrical and electronic instruments to ensure accurate and reliable operation.
• Conduct preventive maintenance programs on electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems and maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Perform periodic tests and checks on all electrical and electronic instruments to verify proper function and safety.
• Identify, report, and help resolve potential equipment and building problems before they impact production.
• Install, examine, replace, or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures, and other electrical components.
• Use electrical testing equipment to test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance.
• Maintain, repair, test, and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries, and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial electrical and electronic control systems, including PLC-based systems and related components.
• Install, maintain, and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices to support process control and equipment performance.
• Read, interpret, and edit ladder logic programs to diagnose and resolve control issues.
• Set parameters in variable frequency drives (VFDs), air compressors, and other controlled equipment as needed.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks on hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and complex mechanical equipment.
• Utilize Allen-Bradley PLCs and related software to troubleshoot and optimize control systems.
• Use shop equipment and tools such as lathes, drill presses, mills, cut-off saws, arbor presses, hydraulic presses, wrenches, chisels, grinders, and drills, as well as analog and digital test equipment including voltmeters and ohmmeters.

Essential Skills

• Intermediate knowledge of PLC function and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and edit ladder logic, with experience deciphering ladder logic programs.
• Experience with Rockwell Automation software, including RSLogix 5000 and RSLogix 500.
• Understanding of principles of PLC operation and industrial control systems.
• Proficient troubleshooting skills in hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and complex mechanical equipment.
• Capability to diagnose issues using visual and auditory senses, test components, and technical publications.
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in industrial maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to use shop equipment and tools such as lathes, drill presses, mills, cut-off saws, arbor presses, hydraulic presses, wrenches, chisels, grinders, and drills.
• Ability to use analog and digital test equipment including voltmeters, ohmmeters, and other hand tools.
• Ability to read maintenance manuals, schematics, drawings, parts manuals, catalogs, and other maintenance literature.
• Self-motivation and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Project management skills with the ability to see projects through to completion.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in Siemens automation software, such as TIA Portal and Simatic Manager, preferred.
• Plastics manufacturing experience considered a plus.
• Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school preferred.
• Combination of education and/or apprenticeship in an industrial or electrical discipline preferred.
• Experience working with Allen-Bradley PLCs and related systems.
• Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and maintenance recordkeeping systems.
• Ability to assist and train others in machinery operation and maintenance best practices.

Work Environment
This role is based onsite in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility maintained at approximately 70 degrees. The position operates on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The plant is relatively small, with two production lines supported and a total of about 26 employees, fostering a focused and collaborative environment. The facility follows strict hygiene and safety standards, including the use of hair and beard nets as part of the dress code. Work involves regular use of industrial tools and equipment, as well as electrical and electronic testing instruments, in a clean, organized production setting.

This is a Permanent position based out of Elwood, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
