Does that sound like you?About the Job:The Lead Mechanic is responsible for keeping plant equipment and utility systems running safely and reliably. This role performs both preventive and demand maintenance, with a focus on mechanical maintenance, welding, utilities, electrical troubleshooting, and instrumentation.You’ll work in a chemical manufacturing environment and will need to be comfortable working independently, handling changing priorities, and following strict safety procedures..In your future role as Lead Mechanic, you will:Perform preventive and demand maintenance on plant equipment and systems.Work safely in a chemical plant environment and follow required procedures for:Permit to WorkLOTOTO (Lockout/Tagout)Confined spaceHot workLine breakingCrane operationsEnergized workExcavationWorking at heightsUse Preventive Maintenance software to enter, update, and close preventive and demand maintenance work orders.Perform a variety of welding and fabrication work, including:GTA/TIG welding of Hastelloy C-276, 316 stainless steel, and 304 stainless steelStick welding of steel piping, plate, and angleFitting threaded and welded pipingOperate maintenance and fabrication equipment such as Miller-style arc and stick welding equipment, plasma cutters, grinders, pipe threaders, drill presses, band saws, and other machine tools.Maintain plant utility systems, including boilers, deionized water systems, and air compressors.Perform boiler inspections, water testing, and compressor maintenance.Support electrical and instrumentation maintenance, including:Instrument calibrationMotor replacementWiring and conduit installationFuse replacementMultimeter troubleshootingParticipate in HSES activities as directed by management or outlined in the site’s HSES Annual Site Plan.Follow applicable Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) when performing work within the role.Work with minimal supervision and take ownership of assigned work.Manage time effectively and adjust to changing priorities and day-to-day maintenance needs.Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.We believe you bring:High school diploma or GED.2–5 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing or chemical plant environment.Hands-on experience with mechanical maintenance and welding.Experience with or knowledge of TIG/GTA and stick welding.Ability to troubleshoot basic electrical and instrumentation issues.Ability to safely use tools and equipment commonly found in a maintenance environment.Strong commitment to safety and safe work practices.Ability to work independently with limited supervision.Strong time-management skills and the ability to handle continual change and shifting priorities.Ability and willingness to work in office, laboratory, and production environments and meet the physical demands of the maintenance mechanic role.Additional Details:This is a permanent position on a full-time basis, reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor and will be based at our site in Salisbury, NC.Good to know:Please apply via our online recruitment system.
