Construction General Superintendent

Leads overall construction operations for major complex projects, and/or multiple projects concurrently. Trains and mentors associates and others in career development, and instills core company values. Primary Responsibilities Preconstruction : Supports review of owner contract terms with clients; develops overall construction schedule(s); participates in project pursuits; leads and manages site safety and QA/QC action plans; manages site logistics and phasing plans; reviews and provides feedback on trade partner scopes and contracts; provides leadership and learning opportunities to junior associates; manages overall project permitting process; develops general conditions and requirements; communicates with client during preconstruction. Project set‑up and planning : Manages and provides feedback on phased logistics, mobilization, workflow, hoisting and rigging plans; implements SWPPP; leads pre‑planning/kick‑off meetings with trade partners; ensures locates identified and project control points established; manages permits. Schedule management : Co‑develops and maintains complex project schedule; coordinates trade partners, vendors and site staff; manages critical activities; develops recovery/resequencing plans; updates master schedule; documents delays; manages look‑ahead schedules and communicates to stakeholders; uses scheduling software; provides feedback to junior associates. Budget management : Manages project budget and reports; identifies and drives corrective actions; manages labor and material reports; reviews trade partner billing; executes field work directives. Safety management : Prepares and implements safety plan; conducts weekly site safety walk‑throughs; coaches team on hazards; manages ORM process; ensures safety orientations; enforces trade partner safety requirements; reviews hazardous material surveys; leads high‑risk activity planning. Logistics center : Manages material and equipment plan; evaluates purchase vs rental; maintains budget; reviews equipment usage; ensures equipment onsite as needed; oversees maintenance of company equipment. Self‑perform : Manages production rates; develops field staff; provides feedback and disciplines; ensures manpower requests are met; manages tool availability; schedules unit tracking; devises recovery plans. Building Performance Solutions : Engages BIM; documents deficiencies; manages mock‑up process; leads pre‑installation meetings; oversees QA/QC inspections; collaborates with quality manager; coordinates building envelope meetings; participates in site walks. Documentation : Maintains project documents; organizes filing system; keeps drawings, logs, and inspections current; ensures photo documentation; records as‑built changes; distributes daily logs within 24hours. Projections and deep dives : Reviews project status reports and photos; updates schedule; leads meetings; plans deep‑dive site visits; tracks action items; coaches team. Meetings and relationships : Leads and supports weekly trade partner meetings; pre‑installation meetings; OAC meetings; ensures meeting minutes issued timely; maintains professional representation. Risk management : Coaches on contract requirements with owner and trade partners; ensures safety items and COI are received; ensures valid FWDs; manages risk processes. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent. 15–20+ years’ experience in construction industry. Proficiency with personal computer and e‑mail applications. Proven ability to accurately schedule, lead, and develop construction activities. Demonstrated success in effectively managing safety on projects. Strong language skills: reading, analyzing contract documents; writing reports; speaking to clients and partners. Mathematical skills: calculating figures, applying basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning ability: solving practical problems under limited standardization. Valid driver’s license and good driving record. Physical Demands Stand, walk, use hands, lift up to 50lb, move up to 100lb, occasionally more. Climb, balance, stoop, kneel as needed. Perform tasks requiring distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception. Working Conditions Work outdoors in variable weather. Near moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, wet or humid conditions. Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals. Electrical shock risk and vibration. Moderate noise level.
