RN - Labor and Delivery


Job Details:


• Work 12-hour variable day and night shifts, with a primary focus on day shifts
• Every other weekend and holiday required
• No on-call responsibilities, though call shift requirements may apply
• Self-scheduling available with the option to pick up extra shifts when available
• Unit orientation consists of 2 shifts
• Care for patients in an 11-bed Labor and Delivery/Postpartum/Mother-Baby unit with approximately 320 births per year
• Common patient cases include vaginal births, C-sections, inductions, special care nursery, and hysterectomy procedures (no antepartum patients)
• Experience with LDRP and C-section recovery required (unless patient is under general anesthesia)
• Required to titrate epidurals and administer IV medications to induce labor
• Follows AWHONN guidelines for patient ratios
• Agency nurses will not serve as charge nurses
• May float to other units including Med-Surg and PCU as a helping hand/CNA/sitter only, without taking a patient load or working outside scope of practice
• Hospital-supplied scrubs provided
• Charting system: Cerner
• EFM system: Novii, GE
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Must clock in and out at the facility


Facility:


This acute care facility operates a Labor and Delivery unit equipped with 11 beds, one OR suite for C-sections, and one triage bed, supporting approximately 320 births per year. The unit is staffed with an OB provider and anesthesia in-house 24/7, along with respiratory therapy support available for special care nursery patients. The facility utilizes Cerner for charting and maintains a structured charge nurse and house supervisor system to ensure quality patient care.
