Position SummaryThe Emergency Medical Technician will perform a variety of functions which are in support of and directly related to care of patients requiring urgent or emergency care in the Emergency Department. Primary duties include EKGs, splinting, taking and recording vital signs, ensuring the safety of the patient, and maintaining a clean and safe unit environment. Recognizes and reports changes in the patient's condition, takes appropriate action and accurately documents all activities as required. Receives and accurately inventories and secures patient belongings as appropriate.PATIENT COMFORT AND PRIVACY: Assists patient with hygiene, elimination, comfort measures and other Activities of Daily Living (ADL), in consideration of patient age, gender, culture and stated preferences, maintaining patient privacy and respect at all times. Assumes responsibility for maintaining a clean and safe environment. Ensures Infection Control procedures and HIPAA compliance.COLLABORATION FOR PATIENT CARE: Assists with patient care activities as directed by licensed nurse, including EKGs, splinting, crutches, wound care, specimen collection/transport, turning and positioning, and patient transportation.EQUIPMENT AND INVENTORY MANAGEMENT: Manages inventory to ensure the availability of equipment and supplies and communicates usage and availability information as appropriate. Establishes a mechanism to retrieve non-stock items and follows through to ensure timely delivery. Keeps accurate inventory documentation of equipment and maintains PAR levels COMMUNICATION: Actively engages in caring behaviors, taking conscious ownership for work and takes a proactive, deliberate, and thoughtful actions regarding work activities. Demonstrates appropriate use of independent judgement and decision making.Base Pay Rate: Min - $20.00 l Max - $27.5012HR Pay Rate: Min - $23.30 | Max - $32.10Note: These rates are referred to as 12-hour rates; the rate is calculated by averaging 8-hours at the base rate of pay, and 4-hours of overtime.
