Bilingual Certified Medical Assistant - The Heights

Location: The Heights Area of Houston, TX (Must be flexible to travel to Northeast, Greater Houston, and Southwest locations)

Pay Rate: Starting at $21.00/hour

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM; some shifts may extend until 7:00 PM. Saturday clinic hours are 8:00 AM-12:00 PM.

Dean's Professional Services is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and experienced Certified Medical Assistant to support a leading healthcare organization in the Heights area of Houston, TX. This is an excellent opportunity for a bilingual medical assistant with strong clinical and administrative skills who enjoys providing quality patient care in a collaborative healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient care in assigned clinical areas under physician direction and within the scope of a medical assistant.
• Prepare patients for examinations, obtain medical histories, and record vital signs.
• Assist with patient examinations, medical procedures, diagnostic studies, and treatments.
• Administer injections and perform phlebotomy and specimen collection as authorized and within the scope of practice.
• Perform point-of-care testing (POCT) and other clinical laboratory procedures as assigned.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
• Answer telephone calls, schedule appointments, and assist with front-desk operations as needed.
• Support insurance verification, patient registration, and other administrative duties.
• Prepare and maintain examination rooms, sterilize instruments as required, and monitor clinical supplies.
• Follow applicable TJC, CLIA, HIPAA, NCQA, and government standards, along with organizational policies and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and team members in both English and Spanish.
• Travel to Northeast, Greater Houston, and Southwest locations as needed.
• Maintain flexibility to support extended weekday hours and Saturday clinic operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2 years of Medical Assistant experience required.
• Current Medical Assistant certification required.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
• Experience administering injections and obtaining vital signs.
• Phlebotomy and clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• Experience with point-of-care testing (POCT) and specimen collection.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, patient care, and clinical procedures.
• Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and medical office operations.
• Strong telephone communication, appointment scheduling, and patient service skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to travel between designated Houston-area clinic locations.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
