About the Role Our client is seeking a quantitative and insightful Agricultural Economist to join their team, supporting operations across East London and other key agricultural regions. This role involves analyzing market trends, production costs, and economic factors to provide strategic advice that optimizes profitability and sustainability for agricultural enterprises. You will conduct research, develop financial models, and prepare reports to guide decision-making on investments, resource allocation, and market strategies. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of agricultural markets, economic principles, and quantitative analysis, coupled with the ability to communicate complex findings effectively to diverse stakeholders. This is an excellent opportunity to influence agricultural business strategies in the Eastern Cape and beyond. Key Responsibilities Analyze agricultural market trends, supply and demand dynamics, and price forecasts. Assess production costs, profitability, and economic viability of various agricultural commodities and farming systems. Develop financial models and projections to support investment decisions and strategic planning. Conduct economic impact assessments for agricultural projects and policies. Provide economic advice on resource management, risk assessment, and market access strategies. Prepare comprehensive economic reports, presentations, and policy briefs for management and stakeholders. Requirements Master's or Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics, Economics, or a related quantitative field. Proven experience as an Agricultural Economist or in a similar analytical role. Strong knowledge of microeconomics, econometrics, and statistical analysis methods. Proficiency in statistical software packages (e.g., Stata, R, SAS, SPSS) and data analysis tools. Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex economic information clearly.
