Job SummarySupports, and is responsible for incorporating into job performance, the Frederick Health (FH) mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy and adheres to the FH Compliance Program, including following all regulatory requirements and the FH Standards of Behavior.Decontamination assembly wrapping and sterilization of surgical instruments and Assembly of case cart requisitions.Example of Essential Functions:Prepares surgical instruments for decontamination, assembly and sterilizationAppropriate handling of power equipment and instruments for washingSorts, inspects and assembles surgical instruments into trays and setsNo wrong count sheets with assembled trays/setsNo wrong container used during assemblyPrepares individual case carts per requisitionsCase carts assembled according to time of case and no wrong items pulled or missed.Used Censitrac to identify performanceDelivers code carts as needed.Operates steam and Sterrad sterilization equipmentProperly sterilize units per manufacture guide linesRestocks code cartsConducts restock inventory of used carts and places stock back into service, with signed and dated sheetUses appropriate wrap and indicators for sterilization of trays and setsPulls correct wrap and indicator for sterilization of itemsScheduled soiled and clean runs for pickup and deliveryItems picked up are documented on rounds chartKeeps all work areas safe, neat and cleanRecords parameters of time temperature and pressure for each cycle and verifies parameters have been met for sterilizationConducts sterilizer air removal and biological testing.Rotates stock for expirations and sterilization date per manufacture instructions for useProperly attired for decontamination and clean side work areaProper phone etiquette and attitudeRequired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of surgical instrumentationAbility to follow written and oral communicationAbility to learn MedSurg Product and instrument terminologyMinimum Education, Training, and Experience:High school diploma preferredCertification via the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution or the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management is required.
