Software Engineer Entry Level

Salary: $59,500 - 79,500 per year Requirements:

• We seek graduating seniors with a demonstrated interest in technology and financial markets.
• We prefer experience across the full software development lifecycle, ideally using an object-oriented language such as C++, C#, or Java.
• You should be able to problem-solve effectively and choose the right approach for the task at hand.
• You need the ability to design and optimize low-latency software.
• We value a collaborative, entrepreneurial mindset with a sense of ownership.
• You should bring strong curiosity, a passion for learning, and comfort tackling challenging problems in a team setting.
• You must communicate clearly with teammates and product managers.
• You should be comfortable using AI tools to improve productivity while maintaining independent judgment and critical thinking.
• You must be able to live in or relocate to Chicago; this role is for the Chicago location only.
• You need a graduation date of December 2026 or May/June 2027.
• Bonus points if you have experience with hardware optimization or the financial industry.
• For trading positions and certain engineering roles, the SIE and Series 57 licenses are required.

• Enhance our proprietary trading software platform used by our traders each day and deliver solutions that support business needs.
• Design, build, and troubleshoot complex low-latency trading applications.
• Write efficient code that balances performance, readability, and long-term maintainability.
• Partner with teammates to ensure our software meets requirements, aligns with our coding standards, fits our architecture, and includes proper automated testing.
• Work with project managers and team leadership to plan and coordinate work strategies.
• Collaborate in a team environment that encourages continuous learning and innovation across the company.
• Participate in our internal BTU learning program through peer-led lectures to learn the fundamentals of trading and our proprietary systems.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from design through testing and deployment.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance during standard business hours and be available to be on-site before the start of business on occasion.
