Aircraft Structural Technician

This role focuses on performing structural repairs and maintenance on helicopters and tilt-rotor aircraft, including sheet metal and composite structures. You will interpret and work from blueprints, conduct inspections, and carry out repairs, services, and modifications in accordance with FAA regulations and AS9100 standards. The position involves hands-on work on airframes and dynamic components, use of diagnostic equipment, and accurate documentation of all tasks performed in computer-based systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor and major structural repairs on aircraft, including sheet metal and composite materials, by following detailed instructions and approved data.
• Read, interpret, and apply blueprints to modify existing structures or fabricate new parts as required.
• Conduct inspections, repairs, services, and modifications in accordance with FAA regulations, standards, and company procedures.
• Perform scheduled and special inspections, identify discrepancies, and correct them by servicing systems, adjusting, repairing, or replacing parts, and assembling components as authorized.
• Determine malfunctions by performing standard tests and inspections using common tools and diagnostic test equipment.
• Remove, inspect, assemble, and install major helicopter components, parts, sub-assemblies, and assemblies.
• Remove, disassemble, inspect, repair or replace, assemble, and install airframe parts and assemblies, ensuring structural integrity and compliance with specifications.
• Inspect, remove, repair or replace, and assemble engine, hydraulic, electrical, fuel, and environmental/ambient systems as assigned.
• Service aircraft systems as needed, including fluid servicing, operational checks, and functional tests.
• Support towing, parking, mooring, and storage of aircraft as required, ensuring safe handling and positioning.
• Wash, clean, and prepare aircraft for customer delivery when required, maintaining a professional appearance of the aircraft.
• Complete and maintain all required paperwork and electronic records for work performed, materials used, tasks completed, and time expended.
• Use computer systems to document work, enter maintenance data, and update job status accurately and in a timely manner.
• Perform on-the-job training for co-workers as assigned, sharing knowledge of structural repair, inspection, and maintenance practices.
• Travel as assigned by operations leadership to perform routine, preventive, or corrective maintenance and support company or customer aircraft at off-site locations.
• Support the shop by wrapping, unwrapping, crating, and uncrating components and parts as needed.
• Follow Foreign Object Debris (FOD) inspection criteria and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Work under minimal supervision while following instructions and adhering to all regulatory and company standards.

Essential Skills

• 5–7 years of aviation experience in aircraft maintenance or structural repair.
• Hands-on experience with aircraft structural work, including sheet metal and composite repairs.
• Ability to troubleshoot aircraft systems and structures using standard tests and diagnostic equipment.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and maintenance manuals.
• Experience performing inspections, repairs, services, and modifications in accordance with FAA regulations.
• Ability to perform heavy maintenance on aircraft, including helicopters and tilt-rotor platforms.
• Demonstrated capability to remove, inspect, repair, and install aircraft components, including airframe and systems (engine, hydraulic, electrical, fuel, and ambient systems).
• Familiarity with aircraft structures and sheet metal fabrication and repair techniques.
• Ability to follow AS9100 regulations and quality procedures.
• Competence in using computers to document work performed and enter maintenance data.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to FOD prevention and workplace organization standards.

Work Environment

The role is based in an FAA Part 145 completions and repair facility focused on helicopter and tilt-rotor aircraft. You will work in a hangar and shop environment that supports structural repairs, heavy maintenance, and system inspections in accordance with FAA and AS9100 standards. The work involves hands-on use of tools, diagnostic equipment, and computer systems to document maintenance activities. You will handle aircraft towing, parking, mooring, and storage, as well as component wrapping, crating, and uncrating. The facility emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and strict FOD control, with a professional maintenance setting where safety, quality, and regulatory compliance are central to daily operations. Working hours may require flexibility to support maintenance schedules and occasional travel to customer or remote sites.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milton, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
