Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive Employment Law Associate to join our firms litigation team. The successful candidate will handle a broad range of employment matters, represent clients in litigation and arbitration, advise on workplace policies and compliance, and contribute to business development. This role requires strong litigation experience, excellent legal drafting and advocacy skills, and a collaborative approach to client service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of employment-related disputes, including discrimination, wrongful termination, wage and hour, non-compete and trade secret matters.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, settlement agreements, and other litigation documents with precision and attention to detail.
  • Prepare for and conduct hearings, depositions, mediations and trials; advocate effectively on behalf of clients before courts, administrative agencies and arbitrators.
  • Advise clients on employment policies, compliance with federal and state employment laws, internal investigations, workplace audits and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Work closely with partners and senior attorneys to develop case strategy, perform legal research, synthesize complex issues and present clear recommendations to clients.
  • Coordinate with HR professionals, expert witnesses and outside counsel as needed to support litigation and advisory matters.
  • Support business development efforts, including drafting client alerts, contributing to proposals, attending client meetings and building professional relationships.
  • Maintain accurate matter records, track deadlines and ensure timely billing and documentation in accordance with firm policies.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar in good standing.
  • 2+ years of litigation experience with a significant focus on employment law matters; litigation experience at a law firm preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in courtroom advocacy, depositions and alternative dispute resolution (mediation/arbitration).
  • Strong legal research, writing and analytical skills, with the ability to draft persuasive briefs and clear client communications.
  • Familiarity with federal and state employment statutes (e.g., FLSA, Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA) and administrative agency processes (EEOC, DOL, state agencies).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, client service orientation and ability to work collaboratively in teams and independently.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines, prioritize tasks and handle a high-volume caseload while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to professional development and contribution to the firms growth through business development and thought leadership activities.
