Job Description

The Quality Inspector performs routine and repetitive inspection procedures to verify that products meet defined quality standards at various stages of production. This role inspects in-process and finished assemblies and sub-assemblies, follows established procedures and visual aids, and determines product acceptance or rejection based on documented criteria. The position works under close supervision, uses both manual and automated inspection tools, and records inspection results in a manufacturing execution system while strictly adhering to safety, health, and security policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and repetitive inspection procedures to ensure that products meet quality levels at various stages of the production process.

• Inspect in-process and finished production assemblies and sub-assemblies to verify conformance to quality assurance standards and specifications.

• Read and follow visual aids, engineering change notices, and established operating procedures to determine acceptance or rejection of products.

• Work under close supervision of a manufacturing or designated supervisor while performing assigned inspection tasks.

• Follow standardized and routine written directions and visual aids for all assigned quality assurance inspection operations.

• Visually inspect products using magnifying glasses, lot sampling methods, first article checks, and automated optical inspection (AOI) machines.

• Conduct quality checks on production lines to verify that parts, boards, and assemblies meet defined criteria.

• Use lot sampling techniques to evaluate product quality and identify potential defects or trends.

• Operate AOI equipment to inspect printed circuit boards and other assemblies for defects.

• Enter standardized information into a computerized manufacturing execution system (MES) using simple keystrokes to indicate pass or failure of boards and assemblies.

• Document inspection results accurately and consistently to support traceability and continuous improvement.

• Maintain continuous attention to detail while pacing work with automated assembly machinery.

• Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with the position and follow all supervisor directions regarding safe work practices.

• Comply with and follow all procedures within the company security policy, including proper handling of products, equipment, and documentation.

• Support overall production and quality goals by communicating issues, defects, or process concerns to supervisors or appropriate team members.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of experience in a relevant internal production position or equivalent external work experience.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Quality assurance inspection experience in a production or manufacturing environment.

• Hands-on experience with quality inspection of parts, boards, and assemblies on a production line.

• Proficiency in performing visual inspections using magnifying devices and visual aids.

• Experience with automated optical inspection (AOI) equipment.

• Ability to perform lot sampling and first article inspections.

• Familiarity with quality control and quality assurance processes in a manufacturing setting.

• Ability to read and follow visual aids, engineering change notices, and standardized operating procedures.

• Basic computer skills to enter inspection results into a computerized MES system using simple keystrokes.

• Must hold QC certification.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects and nonconformances.

• Ability to stand for long periods and maintain focus while working alongside automated assembly machinery.

• Ability to work 12-hour shifts on the defined rotating schedule.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing is preferred.

• A degree in a related technical or manufacturing field is preferred.

• Previous experience working in a modern, automated plant environment is beneficial.

• Familiarity with packaging inspection and final product quality checks is an advantage.

• Comfort working under close supervision while following standardized procedures.

• Strong communication skills to report issues and collaborate with production and supervision teams.

Work Environment

The role is based on a rotating 12-hour shift schedule: Week 1 includes Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Week 2 includes Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Work takes place on a modern, climate-controlled, and well-maintained plant floor that is heavily automated. The position requires long periods of standing, continuous attention to detail, and the ability to pace work in alignment with automated assembly machinery. Employees use inspection tools such as magnifying glasses, AOI machines, and computerized MES systems as part of their daily tasks. Appropriate industrial attire and adherence to all safety and security procedures are expected in this production environment.

This is a Contract position based out of Flat Rock, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $26.39/hr.
