Registered Nurse Post Surgical

Job Summary Registered Nurse position on a Post‑Surgical Med‑Surg unit. This unit is not a PACU unit. Responsibilities Assess the patient’s condition during admission and at the start of each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status. Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s) and ensure thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient’s medical record; administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action for any unintended response. Respond promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipate patient needs, and resolve them to provide exceptional care. Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment plan, medications, potential side effects, and follow‑up measures, translating complex medical terminology into understandable language. Qualifications Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date. Registered Nurse (RN) with an active license in the state of Texas or a multistate license that includes Texas. Bachelor’s degree preferred; Associate’s degree is the minimum requirement. Minimum of 1 year of experience working in an acute hospital Med‑Surg or Tele unit.
