Registered Nurse (PRN)

Under general direction the Registered Nurse monitors patients supports the providers and documents procedures Essential Duties and Responsibilities Ensures continual delivery of high quality nursing careAdopts and implements innovative nursing practices to improve the facilityMaintains a healthy collaborative team environmentMentorstrains other surgical staff as neededPromotes positive customer relations within the ASCHas working knowledge of all equipment and proceduresOversees safety surveillance and task related responsibilities that have been delegated to others to ensure effective and desired resultsOversees infection control surveillance and task related responsibilities that have been delegated to others to ensure effective and desired resultsMaintains documentation of patient care services by auditing patient and department records including but not limited to autoclave receiptsMaintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societiesMaintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem solving methodsContributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as neededConsults and coordinates with health care team members to assess plan implement and evaluate patient care plansMonitors all aspects of patient carePrepares rooms sterile instruments equipment and suppliesDeals compassionately professionally and courteously with patients their families physicians and fellow employeesFollows safety and infection control proceduresAdheres to all federal state and nursing regulations and protocols including but not limited to patient safety procedures such as verification of patient identification prior to proceduresEnsures that immediately prior to the start of any procedure in the procedure room initiate a time out and ensure correct patient procedure site and side and that there are no additional concernsIdentifies every patient with two identifiers full name and date of birthDocuments this information in the Procedure Safety Checklist including the time of the time outIdentifies an emergency situation and is able to appropriately interveneUnderstands and administers regulatory policies ie Joint CommissionAAAHC CDC State etcDeploys monitors and ensures that the facilities operational processes are appropriately integrated within the facilitys quality programsMaintains patient physician and employee privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA Company and other regulatory standardsAssists with supply ordering as neededProvides clinical support for proceduresMaintains accurate detailed reports and recordsMonitors records and reports symptoms and changes in patients conditionsRecords patients medical information and vital signsEnsures history and physicals are complete on each patient by the provider prior to proceduresConsults and coordinate with health care team members to assess plan implement and evaluate patient care plansInstructs individuals families and others on topics such as health education disease prevention and develop health improvement programsOversees and ensures that dailyquarterlyannual binderslogs are up to dateInforms physician of patients condition before during and after proceduresActs as a liaison between the physician and the patient and patients family or support personsMaintains the role of patient advocateEnsures provides and explains discharge instructions to all patientsEnsures physician has cleared patient for discharge prior to discharging the patientAssists in the stocking and inventory of the clinical areaEnsures all applicable Surgery Center staff and guests wear radiation badgesMaintains and stores radiation safety equipmentConducts annual apron and thyroid shield inspectionsConducts safety drills as requiredConducts daily inventory of and ensures policies and procedures are followed for controlled substancesAs assigned ensures operation of medical and administrative equipment by verifying emergency equipment availability; completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturers instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniquesOrdersrequests supplies as neededChecks and responds to work e mail on a regular basis throughout the workdayParticipate in and complete all required trainings and in servicesPerforms other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Associates Degree in NursingMust have knowledge of Internet and Microsoft Office software MS Word MS Excel MS PowerPoint MS OutlookMust possess and maintain current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state in which the employee practices or must hold a nursing license within a compact eligible stateProof of licensure andor compact eligibility must be submittedMust possess a current ACLS and BLS certificationMust have excellent written and oral communication skills including exceptional customer serviceMust be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with doctors clinical staff other co workers and the publicMust be able to work individually as well as within a teamMust be able to follow both verbal and written instructionsMust be able to work a flexible scheduleMust be able to respond with patience and understanding during stressful conditions related to patient health and emergent situationsMust be able to multi task and prioritizeMust have working knowledge of all equipment and proceduresMust demonstrate extreme attention to detailMust possess strong organization skillsMust be able to problem solve and use reasoningMust be able to meet predefined quality standardsMust maintain and project a professional attitude and appearance at all timesMust have a working knowledge of the healthcare field and medical terminologyMust provide proof of influenza vaccination annuallyMust complete two 2 step PPD NE staff OR must complete an annual PPD SE staffMust complete all regulatory competencies prior to beginning work in the ASCAll staff are expected to have a strong desire to provide excellent customer service;
