Community Resources Department Part-Time Bus Drivers

The Community Resources Department is currently seeking two (2) Part-Time Bus Drivers!

Applicants must attach a copy of their DMV driving record printout at time of application or before the closing date in order to be considered for the position.

Salary information: $24.55 - $29.84 Hourly. This recruitment may close at anytime without advance notice. You are encouraged to apply immediately. You will not be able to submit an application for this position once the recruitment closes.

Please note: Part-time employees cannot work more than 1,000 hours per fiscal year, serve at will, and are exempt from the Civil Service System.

Position description: Under limited supervision, safely and efficiently drives a van or bus to transport passengers; performs routine maintenance on vehicles operated; performs related duties as required.

Essential functions: Responsible for transporting passengers relating to the City's Gold Line shuttle and demand response transportation programs. Day-to-day operations to various locations including medical offices, shopping, recreational activities, etc.; plans the best route to follow based on starting points and destination of riders and appointment times.

Qualification guidelines: Education and/or experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for satisfactory job performance. Example combinations include graduation from high school or equivalent and two (2) years of experience in para-transit service. Licenses and certifications include possession of a Class B California driver's license with Passenger endorsements, a valid medical certificate, and ability to obtain valid First Aid and CPR certificates.

Special requirements/physical, mental, environmental conditions: This position is subject to mandatory drug and alcohol testing pursuant to Federal Transit Administration regulations. Open availability to work alternate shifts, including weekends. Position requires sitting for long periods of time, occasional standing, walking on uneven and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, and making repetitive hand movements above and below shoulder level in performance of daily duties. The position requires both near and far vision when driving and operating assigned equipment and acute hearing is required when providing face-to-face service. The need to lift, carry, pull and push tools, supplies and other equipment weighing up to 25 pounds is also required. Additionally, the incumbent may be required to respond to after-hours emergency call-outs.
