You'll engage in a blend of outpatient therapy with some occasional inpatient responsibilities, unlocking new possibilities for those driven by the need for enhanced communication skills, whether they be children learning to articulate or adults grappling with cognitive challenges.
Assess and evaluate patients throughout pediatric, adult, and elderly populations using a variety of methods including standardized tests and observational evaluations.
Create individualized treatment strategies to meet both immediate objectives and overarching communication and swallowing requirements.
Deliver focused speech therapy sessions designed to improve articulation, language use, fluency, voice characteristics, and swallowing functions.
Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of medical professionals, including physical and occupational therapists, nurses, and physicians, to ensure comprehensive care plans.
Educate patients and their families to foster progress beyond clinical appointments.
Support occasional inpatient therapy evaluations and interventions, maintaining a seamless continuum of care throughout the rehabilitation process.
Document progress accurately and promptly, in accordance with state, federal, and organizational standards.
Engage in ongoing professional development and peer networking to stay abreast of the latest advancements in speech-language pathology.
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited educational institution.
Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not already ASHA-certified.
State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days after hiring.
Expertise in evidence-based practices for diverse populations, coupled with a deep understanding of both developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
Exceptional communication skills to effectively connect with patients, their families, and the healthcare team.
Flexibility in adapting therapeutic approaches to meet the varied cultural and linguistic backgrounds of patients.
Strong problem-solving skills and clinical judgment.
Familiarity with electronic medical record systems and documentation procedures.
