POSITION SUMMARY:

The Mechanical Engineer’s primary responsibility is managing the mechanical design of world class aviation test and support equipment. This position is a hands‑on technical role for an engineer who strives in hydraulics, pneumatics, and electro‑mechanical systems. The expectation is to design and deliver a product that supports the project budget, schedule, and system requirements. It will be required to collaborate with team members, purchasing, manufacturing, quality, vendors, and customers in this role. The Mechanical Engineer supports products through the entire design cycle as well as delivery, commissioning, training for the end user, and warranty support.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

include, but not limited to: Review of contracts, quote documents, and component test instructions in order to build a foundation for the system requirements Collaborate with fellow team members to develop a design approach Design hydraulic / pneumatic systems that support the project budget, schedule, and performance requirements Design the physical layout of equipment in the test system Provide direction to mechanical design resources to create structures, tooling, and manufacturing drawings Review and approve drawings to be released to manufacturing. Provide oversight and support during the fabrication and assembly of equipment Perform hands‑on system start‑up, calibration, and performance testing of all test stand systems Develop and verify test procedures that support the end‑item component testing. Prepare documentation which includes operation manuals, drawings, etc. Perform acceptance testing and conduct end‑item component testing to demonstrate the product’s capability to the customer for factory acceptance Travel to the customer’s site to supervise installation, startup the equipment, and train the end‑user on operation, calibration, and maintenance. Clearly communicate and collaborate to support any issues that may arise throughout the project cycle

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent. BSME is preferred. 3+ years of new product development and mechanical design experience Experience designing mechanical systems, hydraulic / pneumatic circuits, and sizing system components Experience in designing mechanical systems within integrated products that contain electro‑mechanical systems for automation and data collection Familiarization with drawing standards

DESIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:

Knowledge of electrical systems, control systems, and data acquisition systems Knowledge of NFPA 496, NEC, CE, CSA, ATEX requirements Experience with fluid routing through pipe, hose, and fittings. Experience in designing automated systems containing sensors for data collection, PID controls, and analog or digital controls Strong foundation in PC skills; Microsoft Office Suite, spreadsheets, MRP/ERP systems (Visual ERP system knowledge a plus) CAD experience, SolidWorks preferred #J-18808-Ljbffr Bauer
