Since 1985, we've been a family-run, direct-trade coffee roaster on a mission bigger than coffee: transforming lives. This is a seat at a table still small enough for your voice to matter, and ambitious enough that your effort has a real path toward becoming something you'll one day hold a piece of. Right now, a few of those seats are empty, and we're looking for someone who wants to fill one.

We're looking for a driven, relationship-first Sales Representative to build the Java City footprint across California — with real potential to expand into the Western U.S. This is a "create your own territory" role. You'll open doors with churches, grocery stores, restaurants, bars, offices, health food stores, and police and fire stations — anywhere people gather and drink coffee, there's an opportunity, and it's yours to find.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

•     You'll prospect and close new wholesale accounts across a wide range of channels — churches, grocery stores, restaurants, bars, offices, health food stores, and police and fire stations among them.

•     You'll build long-term relationships rooted in trust, not just transactions.

•     You'll represent a brand with 40 years of direct-trade roots and a mission that opens doors most reps have to earn cold.

•     You'll travel your territory, manage your own pipeline.

•     Part of keeping an account happy is a quick visual check on their water filtration and swapping a user-serviceable filter cartridge when it needs it — no plumbing, just the kind of attentiveness that makes a customer trust you with their equipment and their business.

•     You'll negotiate and close within Java City's approved pricing and terms, then log every account, order, and pipeline detail in our CRM.

•     You'll report sales activity, pipeline, and what you're hearing in the field directly to the CEO — not buried three layers down, but straight to the person steering the company.

•     You'll drive your own vehicle across the territory, with mileage reimbursed for every business mile you log.

What You Bring

•     A self-starter who thrives on the hunt and the win.

•     Someone who connects easily with people from every walk of life — a church administrator one hour, a fire captain the next.

•     A team player who believes in collaboration over competition, because the whole company grows when the team does.

•     Coffee industry experience is a plus — heart and hustle matter more.

•     You live in the Greater Sacramento area now; this is your home base. Applied uniformly to all candidates.

•     A high school diploma or GED (or equivalent) gets you in the door; a year of B2B, wholesale, or field sales — ideally in food & beverage, CPG, or hospitality.

•     Valid California driver's license, a motor vehicle record we can work with, and your own insured vehicle ready for daily runs across California. Applied uniformly to all candidates.

•     Strong negotiation and relationship-building, the discipline to run your own schedule without someone checking in on you hourly, and the confidence to report your results straight to executive leadership.

•     You'll frequently carry product samples and marketing materials up to 25 lbs., and you'll spend your day on your feet — walking the floor, working the counter, and engaging face-to-face with every account you visit.

•     Your schedule is largely self-directed to fit account availability, which means early mornings, evenings, and the occasional weekend when that's when the account can see you.
