The Student Radiologic Technologist takes radiographic images while performing a diagnostic imaging examination.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assessing patient and their condition to determine proper handling and special requirements.
• Explaining and preparing the patient for all radiographic procedures.
• Interviewing patients and reviewing available clinical data from charts in order to alert nurses and/or physicians to possible contradictions for procedure.
• Relying on extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology and effects of disease processes to properly and safety position the patient for maximum diagnostic yield.
• Maintaining radiographic equipment and x-ray rooms in proper working condition. Reporting malfunctions and necessary repairs to supervisory personnel.
• Checking stock inventory and initiating orders.
• Attending all required Safety Training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety and specific job-related hazards.
• Communicating with providers on types of x-rays that can be done at JVCHC.
• Downloading reports and distributing them daily.
• Keeping disc for records storage.
• Ordering UPT as needed on female patients.
• Must have working knowledge of electronic medical records and how to navigate within the system to retrieve material.

Required qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in an ARRT accredited School of Radiological Technology as a senior student.
• Successful completion of all freshman clinical competencies.
