About the role

We are looking for an Engineering Team Lead to lead the Data Team: the group responsible for high-scale blockchain data access, indexing, performance, reliability, and data infrastructure.

You will manage engineers who own complex backend and data systems end to end. This includes helping the team translate ambitious product and platform goals into clear specs, sound technical designs, production systems, and measurable outcomes.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You do not need to be the primary implementer for every project, but you must be technical enough to guide architecture, review trade-offs, raise the engineering bar, and keep delivery tied to user and business impact.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers building backend and data systems for blockchain infrastructure at scale.


• Manage engineers through regular 1:1s, feedback, coaching, prioritization, and growth planning.


• Guide the team from problem discovery to production delivery: requirements, specs, architecture, implementation, rollout, observability, and iteration.


• Translate product, customer, support, and infrastructure needs into clear engineering plans, acceptance criteria, and measurable outcomes.


• Help the team design reliable systems for high-volume data access, indexing, caching, validation, benchmarking, and operational tooling.


• Set a high bar for technical design, code quality, testing, performance, reliability, observability, and maintainability.


• Drive healthy engineering process: clear specs, design reviews, project breakdowns, decision records, status updates, and post-release follow-up.


• Use AI-first engineering practices to improve team throughput while maintaining strong review, verification, and production-safety discipline.


• Collaborate with Product, Infrastructure, Support, Sales, and Executive teams to align engineering work with customer impact and business priorities.


• Participate in hiring, interview design, candidate evaluation, and team culture building.


• Balance leadership and technical contribution, stepping in directly when architectural clarity, debugging, review, or delivery risk requires it.

Requirements

• 2+ years of engineering leadership experience managing backend, infrastructure, data, or platform engineers.


• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience in backend, infrastructure, data, or distributed systems.


• Strong backend engineering background, preferably with Go, Rust, or similar production systems languages.


• Experience leading engineers who own complex systems end to end, from requirements and design through production operation.


• Strong understanding of distributed systems, API design, data modeling, databases, queues, caching, consistency, failure modes, and high-availability architecture.


• Experience with performance-sensitive systems, including benchmarking, profiling, load testing, capacity planning, and production debugging.


• Practical experience with cloud-native infrastructure, Kubernetes or similar orchestration, CI/CD, observability, and infrastructure-as-code.


• Ability to review technical designs and code with focus on correctness, simplicity, reliability, and long-term maintainability.


• Strong process maturity: specs, design docs, ADRs/RFCs or similar, structured planning, clear acceptance criteria, and disciplined delivery.


• Comfort using AI tools in engineering workflows, with clear judgment about verification, security, correctness, and team-level leverage.


• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills in a fully remote environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with blockchain infrastructure, blockchain data, RPC APIs, archive data, indexing, or node operations.


• Experience with high-volume data pipelines, analytical databases, object storage, event streaming, or workflow orchestration.


• Experience building internal tools, diagnostic systems, benchmark suites, repair workflows, or operational automation.


• Experience hiring senior engineers and protecting a high technical bar.


• Experience working in a fast-moving infrastructure company where engineering work directly affects customer reliability and performance.
