Make a meaningful impact by supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing through a rewarding contract assignment near Charlotte, NC. Your expertise will help shape individualized educational experiences for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, empowering them in their academic and social development.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Licensed or certified as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (state credentials required)
- Deep understanding of Deaf culture, communication strategies, and best practices for hearing-impaired education
- Experience delivering differentiated instruction and IEP (Individualized Education Plan) development
- Familiarity with assistive listening devices and inclusive classroom technologies
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work with students, families, and educational teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement tailored instructional plans for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Assess students’ needs and adjust teaching methods as needed, ensuring access to the general curriculum
- Advocate for student inclusion within mainstream settings, supporting teachers and staff in providing necessary accommodations
- Participate in IEP meetings, contributing specialized knowledge to help meet each student’s goals
- Provide consultation and resources to educators, parents, and support staff, fostering optimal learning environments
- Maintain thorough and accurate progress documentation for each student
