Business Unit Controller

Job Description

Synergy Search is partnering with a growing, well-capitalized technology company serving enterprise and public sector customers. The business is expanding quickly and building out its accounting function to keep pace.

This is a newly elevated, high-visibility leadership role that functions as a Business Unit Controller for a fast-scaling part of the business. Reports to the Corporate Controller, leads a small accounting team, and works closely with site leadership on day-to-day financial operations. This is a priority hire. The company is looking for someone who can step in and take ownership of the books quickly.

Responsibilities

• Own the month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
\n
• Manage accounting for long-term contracts, including forecasting and revenue recognition under US GAAP
\n
• Oversee cost accounting, inventory valuation, and variance analysis
\n
• Manage AP and AR functions and drive process improvement across the finance team
\n
• Lead and develop a small accounting team
\n
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and audit readiness
\n
• Act as a trusted financial partner to site and operations leadership
\n

Requirements

\n
• CPA strongly preferred, CMA considered
\n
• Five or more years of progressive accounting experience inside an operating business, not solely public accounting
\n
• Experience with long-term contract or project-based accounting a plus
\n
• Comfortable making day-to-day decisions independently and personally preparing general ledger entries
