About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - ICU Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: 3 years in ICU required License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Minimum of 3 years' experience in the ICU - General ICU experience preferred, neuro or cardiac specific experience considered Description: Unit has 20 beds. Ratios are 1 to 2, may be 1 to 1. Charge Nurse is present. Nurse Aides will assist with blood draws, EKGs, and other technical duties. Weekend requirement is every other weekend. Holidays will be scheduled with the permanent staff rotation. Nurses are required to read telemetry strips. Drugs administered may include vaso, levophed, norepinephrine, dobutamin, dopamin, propofol, and fentanyl. Ventilation management is required. Clientist or intensivist is in house with on-call availability after hours. Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7. Shifts are 12 hours with self-scheduling, though not always guaranteed. Floatation to the stepdown unit or Observation will be required. Common patient diagnoses include neuro surgery, open heart cases, and post-cardiac catheterization. Travel experience is preferred. Cerner experience is also preferred. Cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shifts to be canceled per 13-week assignment. Charting system used is Cerner.
