Job Description: Reporting to the Provost, the Assistant Provost for Student Success provides broad-based leadership, planning and oversight to advance the academic mission of the College. The Assistant Provost for Student Success strategically advances the priorities of Academic Affairs through collaborative partnerships with faculty, staff and students, maintaining our commitment to sustainable academic quality. The position's primary responsibility is to support the success, retention and persistence of students and successful outcomes following graduation through a culture of academic engagement. The incumbent will often collaborate with the offices they supervise as well as with partners in Student Affairs, Enrollment Management, and the faculty. Job Duties: 1. - Provide strategic leadership for and foster collaboration among the Advising and Academic Success Office, the Registrar's Office, the Levin Library, and the Faculty Center for Professional Development to enhance coordinated support for student learning and success across all student populations;
- Partner with the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, the Dean of the School of Business and Technology, and the Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences and other institutional leaders in the development of holistic student support systems;
- Serve as the Senior Staff sponsor and a functional administrator of Curry 360 (Navigate 360) platform to support the student lifecycle;
- Using data in collaboration with the Assistant Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness, they develop, implement, and assess a strategic student success planning within Academic Affairs;
- Serves on the Team Graduate, the College's Student Retention and Success Committee;
- Manage institutional academic standards review processes related to academic concern, notice, separation, probation, and readmission for all student populations;
- Provides strategic oversight to joint initiatives with Admissions, Enrollment Management, Student Affairs, Student Financial Services, Admissions, Marketing & Communications, Institutional Advancement and academic departments to enhance academic culture and advance recruitment and student success efforts;
- Develops and disseminates academic information for students and families as part of the overall college communication plan;
- Responds to parents and students on behalf of the Provost and President, as appropriate;
- Assessment of systems, technological or otherwise, that support student success, retention and persistence, inclusive of leading implementation and training efforts;
- Leads new initiatives aimed at strengthening student success including the identification and implementation of enhanced protocols for student success, including, but not limited to connecting students' academic interests with career outcomes;
- Recommends policies to achieve successful execution of measurable goals defined by Team Graduate, the Executive Team, and the Academic Leadership Group;
- Seek out opportunities for grants, partnerships, and other external funding opportunities to support student success initiatives;
- Collaborate with the Director of Student Transitions and Family Programs to lead campus-wide planning efforts related to new student and family engagement;
- Lead campus-wide planning efforts related to first-year experience in partnership with the First Year Experience work team;
- In partnership with faculty and Student Affairs colleagues, standardize peer mentorship programs and efforts across the College;
- Develop programming and relationships to foster a sense of academic belonging and confidence among students;
- With a multitude of colleagues across campus, support the launch and assessment of the Laboure Center for Advancing Healthcare Opportunities, an expanded academic support center for adult learners, inclusive of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) support;
- In collaboration with Provost, Deans, and Faculty, enhance the value of the curriculum by leveraging the AAC&U High Impact Practices.
- Promotes leadership and development of faculty through direct responsibility for programming offered by the Faculty Center that focuses on teaching and learning excellence;
- Provides supervision and leadership for Instructional Design staff charged with managing use of Canvas as the College's learning management system;
- Provides supervision and leadership for Faculty Center, including the Faculty Innovation Specialist;
- Collaborate with Faculty Center staff, faculty, and the Excellence in Teaching Committee to plan and implement the annual Faculty Retreat and other professional development and/or training opportunities for faculty.
- Represents the needs and interests of Academic Affairs to committees, faculty, and institutional stakeholders in the absence of or at the direction of the Provost;
- Supervises and facilitates cross-area planning and curriculum development and support related to First-Year programs, Advising & Academic Success, Levin Library, the Faculty Center;
- Acts as appeals and/or hearing officer for faculty and student concerns and issues including academic integrity violations, grade appeals, etc.;
- Works closely with the Director of Title IX and Equity Compliance, General Counsel, student services staff, and appropriate academic leadership team members so that coordinated and timely academic accommodations are in place to ensure that student educational experiences remains uninterrupted, while also assisting faculty with appropriate workplace adjustments and guidance in alignment with institutional policies, local, state, and federal laws.
- Work collaboratively with other campus administrators on issues related to academic affairs;
- Serve on the Provost's leadership team (Academic Leadership Group);
- Serve on Strategic Planning Committees;
- Co-Chairs and represents Academic Affairs on the Care, Assess, Respond, Evaluate, & Support (CARES) Team;
- Serve on College-wide committees as appropriate;
- Support College-wide initiatives as appropriate;
- Special projects assigned by the Provost or his/her designee;
- Respect and maintain confidentiality, parameters or operation, professional protocols, and individual privacy.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, students and other stakeholders both individually and in group settings.to advance goals.
- Information technology proficiency
- Strong presentation skills in public forums.
- Master's degree required, doctorate preferred
- At least 7 years of responsibility in an administrative position in an academic department or program with a demonstrated record of promoting high standards, rigor and challenge.
- Evidence of successful leadership in academic matters including enhancing teaching and learning, policy and curriculum development, faculty support, data-informed program development, and fiscal responsibility related to academic support services.
- Track record of success in working as a member of an academic department, program or faculty committee and in bringing about consensus to advance institutional goals.
