Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Nashville, Tennessee.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: Med Surg\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: ASAP\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, nights\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Sep 14, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 2\n Description\n American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring 1 year of specialty experience and BLS/NIHSS certification.Details\n \n 36-bed Med/Surg unit with patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5\n Unit staffed with a secretary daily and PRN techs\n Uses PD cyclers, Welch Allyn VS carts, Hoyer lifts, Broda chairs, and Alaris IV pumps\n Documentation via Meditech\n Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM\n Required to work 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week block\n Floating required over core staff\n Care for patients requiring wound, tracheostomy, ostomy, drain, and chest tube management\n Manage patients with strokes and seizures\n Patient population may require dialysis or PCA pumps, with Heparin as the only drip administered\n Post-op care includes amputations, ostomy, drains, chest tubes, oral surgeries, and wound vacs\n Requirements\n \n Active RN license (TN or Compact)\n Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required, with no certifications expiring within 30 days of start\n Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg experience required\n Able to perform basic patient assessments and general care and maintenance for complex post-op and specialty cases\n No employment gaps of 90 days or more in the past 12 months\n US SSN and DOB required for consideration\n One professional reference required\n Additional Information\n \n Perform bedside shift report and safety checks every 1-2 hours with a focus on communication and responsiveness\n Follow HAI prevention protocols including CVC and Foley monitoring with standard precautions\n Participate in fall prevention initiatives\n 100% medication scanning required, including controlled substances\n Attendance per unit policy\n Scrub colors accepted include navy, blue, white, black, gray, and ceil blue\n Join a supportive and experienced team with strong charge nurse and leadership support for smooth onboarding\n Travelers held to the same accountability standards as core staff\n Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-744097.
