Our organization is seeking an innovative physician-leader to take on the role of Medical Director of the Cancer Clinical Trials Office . This pivotal position aims to enhance and expand our clinical research initiatives within one of the most vibrant health systems in the country. The role supports our mission to eliminate geographic, socioeconomic, and access barriers, ensuring that every patient receives top-tier, compassionate cancer care along with access to groundbreaking investigational therapies.

We are in search of a proactive individual to establish and lead a premier Cancer Clinical Trials Office, fostering a comprehensive and high-performing clinical trials program that improves patient access, bolsters investigator engagement, and facilitates innovative study initiation and execution throughout the organization.

Our health system serves over 24,000 cancer patients each year and boasts a team of more than 400 Cancer Institute physicians across 25+ subspecialties. This leadership role will be crucial in guiding our ongoing expansion as a health system.

The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research acts as the core of our research initiatives, serving as a center for scientific innovation and discovery, including the Institute of Cancer Research, where pioneering translational cancer research is conducted. Additionally, a strategic alliance formed in 2015 with Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory has expedited the application of fundamental scientific discoveries into patient care through the creation of innovative early-phase clinical trials.

As the Medical Director of the Cancer Clinical Trials Office, your responsibilities will include:

• Creating and executing a comprehensive strategy for cancer clinical trials operations, portfolio development, and enrollment enhancement across all sites.
• Establishing a centralized, high-efficiency clinical trials framework that supports all disease teams.
• Developing standardized protocols for trial initiation, enrollment, compliance, data integrity, and regulatory oversight across all locations.
• Expanding early-phase (Phase I/II) clinical trial capabilities, including investigator-initiated trials (IITs), to position our organization as a leading destination for innovative cancer therapies.
• Collaborating with leaders in disease-specific programs, surgical oncology, radiation oncology, precision medicine, and supportive care to ensure multidisciplinary trial development.
• Building and enhancing partnerships with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, cooperative groups (NCTN, NCORP), and academic collaborators to expand the trial portfolio.
• Utilizing our extensive network to bring clinical trials closer to patients, minimizing access barriers and ensuring diverse and equitable participation in trials.

Qualifications:

• MD or MD/PhD from an accredited institution.
• Board Certification in Medical Oncology and/or Hematology.
• Extensive clinical experience and a recognized national/international reputation in the development and execution of cancer clinical trials.
• Proven history of program development, leadership in clinical research operations, and growth of clinical trial portfolios.
• Strong publication record and experience in clinical/translational research, including roles as principal investigator on cooperative group, industry-sponsored, and/or investigator-initiated trials.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance, IRB processes, FDA requirements, and clinical trial quality assurance.
• Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain collaborative relationships with industry partners, cooperative groups, and academic institutions.
• Eligibility for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor at the Zucker School of Medicine.
• Active or eligible for medical licensure in New York State.
