The purpose of this position is to assist the Human Resources Department in the provision of services to the City's employees, applicants and general public. Performs administrative support duties for the City. This job works under close supervision according to set procedures.

Examples of duties

• Coordinates special projects such as employee recognition and engagement events.
• Prepares documents, department paperwork, requisitions, and material for online job advertisements.
• Performs data or word processing operations that include data entry, encoding, retrieving data as well as working with software applications and programs. Processes, codes and maintains personnel, payroll and fiscal records for the Human Resources Department.
• Composes, memos, letters, and forms; prepares documents and correspondence for employees, beneficiaries and providers to facilitate benefits delivery.
• Prepares and distributes response letters to all employment applicants.
• Serves as primary phone operator, directing calls and providing information to the general public, other entities and employees.
• Coordinates personnel files, scanning, and organization within the HR office.
• Performs related work as assigned.

Typical qualifications

• High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
• One year of human resources, customer service, clerical support or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.

Supplemental information

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

• Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
