We are representing Encompass Health, the nation's largest owner and operator of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, seeking an experienced Quality/Risk Director for its Modesto, California hospital.

This is a hospital-wide leadership position responsible for overseeing the organization's quality management, patient safety, regulatory compliance, accreditation readiness, risk management, and performance improvement programs.

The Director will work closely with hospital leadership and clinical departments to identify opportunities for improvement, maintain regulatory compliance, reduce organizational risk, and ensure consistently high standards of patient care.

This opportunity is particularly well suited for an experienced hospital Quality Director, Quality Manager, Risk Director, Risk Manager, or Quality and Patient Safety leader ready to take ownership of a comprehensive hospital quality and risk program.

Job Details

The Quality/Risk Director will oversee the hospital's comprehensive quality management and risk management programs while ensuring compliance with federal, state, accreditation, corporate, and hospital requirements.

This individual will collaborate across clinical and administrative departments to monitor patient care quality, identify performance improvement opportunities, manage regulatory readiness, investigate risk events, coordinate corrective action plans, and maintain key hospital policies and quality programs.

The ideal candidate will bring substantive healthcare quality and/or risk management experience with direct responsibility for performance improvement, regulatory compliance, patient safety, and organizational risk.

Responsibilities

Lead and maintain the hospital-wide quality management, performance improvement, patient safety, and risk management programs.
Monitor compliance with federal, state, industry, accreditation, corporate, and hospital standards.
Coordinate and support local, state, federal, and accreditation surveys and maintain ongoing survey readiness.
Identify areas of noncompliance and lead remediation and corrective action initiatives.
Provide hospital-wide education regarding regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, quality initiatives, and patient safety.
Oversee risk management activities including incident reporting, investigation, potential claims, corrective action plans, and communication with corporate risk leadership.
Maintain and update key hospital plans including Provision of Care/Scope of Services, Leadership, Information Management, Utilization Review, Infection Control, and Patient Safety.
Use quality and patient experience data systems to identify trends, generate reports, research issues, and develop improvement initiatives.
Coordinate the review, development, implementation, and maintenance of hospital policies.
Collaborate with clinical and operational departments to address patient concerns, quality issues, complaints, and potential risks.
Support leadership in building a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, quality, and patient safety.

Qualifications

Experience in healthcare Quality and/or Risk Management.
Demonstrated primary responsibility for performance improvement activities.
Experience with healthcare regulatory compliance and accreditation requirements.
Experience managing or supporting risk management and patient safety activities.
Demonstrated leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Bachelor's degree in healthcare or a related field preferred.
Licensure or certification as required by applicable state regulations.
Hospital, inpatient rehabilitation, acute-care, or comparable healthcare environment experience strongly preferred.
