To support the payroll department's tax-related functions, the remote Virginia Licensed Payroll Tax Accountant will prepare and remit various tax returns, provide guidance on withholding tax matters, and coordinate with third-party vendors while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Key responsibilities Prepare and remit federal, state, unemployment, and local withholding tax returns, ensuring accurate reporting and minimal penalties Support payroll personnel on withholding tax issues, including reciprocity agreements and manual check entry Audit wage and withholding information for accurate W-2 reporting and assist with inquiries from employees and HR Required qualifications 10+ years of payroll tax/accounting experience Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent technical training Experience in an in-house payroll environment Comprehensive understanding of local, federal, and multi-state payroll tax regulations Advanced MS Excel skills
