JOB SUMMARY
The Corporate Communications Intern (CCI) will support the development and execution of corporate partner communication initiatives for The Salvation Army National Headquarters. This role will assist in creating compelling communications materials that highlight the impact of corporate partnerships, strengthen partner relationships, and showcase how collaborations help advance The Salvation Army’s mission. The CCI will support the creation, coordination, and distribution of corporate partner communications content across various platforms, including digital channels, the national website and social media channels, as well as other digital forms of communication (print, electronic, photo and video). In addition, this position supports the communications team during emergency response situations involving National Headquarters, Territorial and Divisional headquarters and other emergency responder agencies as may be involved. Assists with the writing of stories and news releases for the national newsroom and in the maintenance and content enrichment of the Red Shield Toolkit. Key Responsibilities Supports the NCRD communications team in developing and executing communications strategies that highlight the impact of The Salvation Army’s corporate partnerships and community initiatives. Assists with the creation of partner-facing communications materials, including impact stories, partner spotlights, newsletters, presentations, social media content, web features, press materials, and recognition resources. Researches, identifies, and develops compelling stories that demonstrate the impact of corporate partnerships on individuals, families, and communities served by The Salvation Army. Supports the development of communications materials for corporate partners, including campaign recaps, partner recognition content, and other relationship‑building resources. Works collaboratively with the NCRD corporate partnerships team, national Agency of Record, national communications team, field communications professionals, and external partners to collect information, gather stories, and coordinate content development. Assists with gathering, organizing, and maintaining corporate partnership assets, including photos, videos, partner information, impact statistics, and approved messaging. Helps prepare content for national communications channels, including the national website, newsroom, social media platforms, newsletters, and other digital communications platforms. Assists with researching partner organizations, industry trends, and communications opportunities to support corporate engagement and partnership strategies. Supports the development of presentations, briefing materials, reports, and other communications resources used for corporate partner engagement and internal updates. Assists with proofreading, editing, and ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with The Salvation Army’s brand guidelines across all communications materials. Helps monitor communications performance and engagement metrics to identify opportunities for improving corporate partner storytelling and outreach efforts. Supports the coordination of partner-related communications campaigns, including national initiatives, seasonal campaigns, corporate activations, and special events. Assists with maintaining and enriching communications resources, including the Red Shield Toolkit and other internal content repositories. Follows organizational style guidelines and communications best practices when developing all materials.OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures all files are maintained in an organized and efficient manner. Performs other related work as required and assigned by the Assistant Director of Communications, Director of Communications, Director of Operations, or National CRD Secretary (Director). Must demonstrate dependability through attendance and punctuality.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Preferred applicants should be enrolled in a Communications, Public Relations Bachelor’s, or similar program, and eligible for college credit. Recent graduates are also eligible.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Excellent journalistic quality research and writing talent, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, proofreading and editing skills. Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office365 (primarily Word and PowerPoint), Photoshop, and Content Management Systems. A working knowledge of print, electronic and web publishing procedures. Knowledge and proficiency in online communications, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Snapchat and YouTube. Ability to learn and retain the broad scope of all NHQ section operations and services in order to serve as an effective information resource and to aid in a timely and effective manner. Ability to effectively and efficiently work on multiple deadline projects at the same time without becoming frustrated or disorganized. Ability to gather, compile, and assemble information into a final professional appearance product for letters, records, reports, etc. Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work in order to accomplish work in compliance with quality standards and deadlines. Ability to determine the most effective and efficient method to accomplish work objectives and goals and to work under minimal supervision. Ability to build and maintain effective and professional relationships with officers and employees at National Headquarters and throughout the territories.
