Minor League Certified Athletic Trainer Intern Title: Minor League Certified Athletic Trainer Intern Department: Baseball Operations – Player Development – Athletic Training FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt Date Created: 3/7/2026 Date Reviewed: 3/7/2026 Job Summary: The Minor League Athletic Training Intern role offers the opportunity for a student athletic trainer to learn from and assist the Minor League Athletic Trainer. This role will primarily assist the Minor League Athletic Trainers with daily responsibilities during the 2026 season, from April 1st through the completion of the 2026 regular season. Education Experience Previous work/educational experiences that have prepared the candidate for a start in professional baseball. Skills Independent judgment and ability to multitask is required to plan, prioritize, and organize diversified workload. Must be trustworthy and comfortable with managing sensitive information, including HIPAA compliance and discretion are required. High level of interpersonal skills and be able to effectively communicate with wide range of departments, seniority levels and personalities. Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications and communication platforms in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, EMR and Slack). Other Spoken and written fluency in English Ability to travel within the United States and internationally. Must be billing to relocate for the season. CPR/AED Certification Desired Requirements Experience Previous work/educational experiences that have prepared the candidate for a start in professional baseball. Skills Spoken and written fluency in Spanish preferred. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Training Oversight & Safety – 40% Handle and support daily player care responsibilities. Ensure proper field & dug-out set-up and preparation to ensure a safe playing environment for the health and well-being of players and staff. Operations & Support – 30% Maintain and operate an organized and functional professional athletic training room. Assist with prevention and care of athletic injuries. Manage evaluation of injuries and general medical ailments. Administrative & Other – 20% All other duties assigned by the Staff Minor League Athletic Trainer. Communication & Coordination – 10% Interact and collaborate with Team Physicians, Cincinnati Reds staff, and the affiliate’s front office/support personnel. Ensure proper medical record keeping and reporting procedures. Reports To Coordinator of Minor League Athletic Training Next Role to Develop Toward Performance-based. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods throughout the day. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds (equipment, medical equipment, etc.). Ability to bend, squat, reach, and climb stairs regularly in the course of daily duties Comfortable working in varying conditions (heat, humidity, cold, outdoors, confined spaces like locker rooms). Ability to handle repetitive tasks such as equipment setup. Sufficient hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for tasks like organizing equipment, using computer programs and performing hands‑on therapy. Ability to remain on feet to work long and variable hours , including weekends and holidays. Adhere to Cincinnati Reds Organization Policies and Procedures. Act as a role model within and outside the Cincinnati Reds Organization. Perform duties as workload necessitates. Demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload. Willingness to learn. Open to new methodologies.
