Thunder Compute is changing how GPUs are used through GPU virtualization software. It runs a GPU cloud and lets owners of GPU clouds significantly improve utilization and serve more customers.

Thunder Compute is backed by Y Combinator, raised a seed round, and grew revenue from zero to $500K+ in six months. The team is about six people.

The Role

Thunder Compute is hiring Software Engineers to work on the core of its GPU virtualization stack. This role suits someone who loves optimizing microsecond-level performance in complex C++ systems and building impactful low-level GPU software, and it is central to scaling the platform for a fast-growing customer base.

What You Will Do

• Develop the core C++ virtualization library.
• Research oversubscription, checkpointing and high-performance GPU systems.
• Support new GPU architectures with deep understanding across the system.
• Debug at the systems level in production.
• Diagnose performance issues in customer workloads.

What You Bring

• Strong C++ systems programming experience
• Experience optimizing low-level, performance-critical systems
• Interest in GPU systems and virtualization
• Comfort with production systems debugging
• Willingness to work in San Francisco at startup intensity (typically 50-55 hour weeks)

Nice to Have

• Go experience
• CUDA or GPU driver internals
