Communication Faculty (Updated)

The Communication Faculty is a full-time, 9-month position located primarily on the Old Charlotte Highway (OCH) Campus in Monroe, NC with a start date for Fall 2026. Under the direction of the Department Chair for Arts and Humanities, the Communication Faculty provides quality learning opportunities that assist students in all curriculum programs in meeting their educational goals and career aspirations. This individual has responsibility for teaching, learning, curriculum development, student learning assessment, advising, professional development, institutional service, and community relations. Courses to be taught include Interpersonal Communication, Introduction to Communication, Intercultural Communication, and Public Speaking. Polk campus (Polkton), Old Charlotte Highway campus (Monroe), in community locations (Anson and/or Union counties), or a corrections setting (Anson county) Accept teaching assignments scheduled during the day, evening, weekends, or online Participate in student recruitment, retention, advising, and registration activities Participate in or support the mentoring process, the SPCC Foundation, and grant identification, preparation, implementation, and evaluation Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor, the dean, or the Vice President Required Qualifications Master’s degree in Communication, Mass Communication, or a related field (with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Communication or Mass Communication) Teaching experience Preferred Qualifications One academic year of full-time teaching experience or a part-time teaching equivalent at the college level Familiarity with a course management system such as Canvas Experience teaching web-enhanced, blended/hybrid, and online classes Experience with learning outcomes assessment Demonstrated innovation in teaching South Piedmont Community College provides equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees based on job related criteria without reference to race, color, national origin, religion, gender, age, disability, genetic information, or any other legally protected classification.
