Job Description: Primary Responsibility Full time faculty positions begin in August 2026 with a 30-credit hour (170-day contract per Board Policy 4.12) teaching load annually. CMC is seeking an experienced EMS professional and dynamic educator to be the lead instructor in the Emergency Medical Technician Basic Program for the Aspen and Carbondale campuses. Primary teaching duties include EMT-B, EMT-B Refresher, and IV/IO therapy, but may expand to include Advanced EMT, Paramedic EMT Labs and/or Refreshers, and related classes. The successful candidate will work to strengthen partnerships with local employers such as hospitals, health care agencies, and the local ski areas. Lead faculty in this discipline additionally facilitate recruiting, training, and scheduling of EMT Skills Assistant staff and Adjunct faculty. They also maintain and purchase supplies, coordinate testing and state required documentation, assist in the collection of student records for clinical experiences, and identify local opportunities for clinical partnerships in conjunction with the college-wide Clinical and Contract Specialist.
With reassignment time granted, this faculty position serves as a campus Program Lead and includes curricular oversight in coordination with the Dean of Allied Health, Public Safety, and Outdoor Studies. This position also serves as the faculty leader and reporting liaison to the Associate Dean of Public Safety Programs. Teaching responsibilities expected of all faculty include: teach course load as assigned, evaluate courses and assess student learning, meet established course, program and learning outcomes, comply with guidelines and policies, maintain office hours per established standards, develop rapport with students, assist with and participate in advising, orientation and registration activities. Program instruction includes additional coordination, travel, and record management, such as immunization, background check, fingerprints, and partnership orientation. These duties include planning for classroom, laboratory and clinical learning experiences and confirming written agreements between the administration of the program and outside providers of clinical resources. Faculty also assist in providing for the safe keeping of a system of permanent records and reports essential to the operation of the program and in coordinating with clinical partners to meet needs for on-site direct supervision. CMC Faculty are expected to engage in service activities such as campus and college committees, participation in relevant projects, mentor peers, participate in and assist with assessment activities, program review, student organization, recruiting and retention. Pre-requisites for Position (Qualifications Standards) Qualified candidates must be credentialed to teach in this program, or eligible to be credentialed. Examples of ideal qualifications include: A minimum of an Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university and 4,000 hours of verified, paid EMS work experience in the past five years. [Alternative combination of education and experience of a Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field with 2,000 hours of verified, paid EMS work experience in the past five years.] Degree and previous teaching/training in directly related field preferred.
Current Colorado Paramedic certificate or license required (or able to obtain prior to class start). AHA BLS Instructor preferred. Experience with wilderness medicine or remote EMS care is a plus. Successful completion of an EMS Instructor Course with Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) Division of EMS Administration or National Association of EMS Educators (or completion of this course within the provisional period of the position) required. Constant written and oral communication and the ability to reason and analyze and perform calculations occasionally. Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment daily and driving a vehicle occasionally.

- Are under the general direction of the site school discipline dean or designee;
- Cooperate with other program faculty;
- Work with Student Services personnel in advisement of students; and
