Location: Northridge, CA 91324

Employment Type: Full-Time | Up to 54 hours per week (40 hours guaranteed)

Schedule: Monday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Saturday hours may shift to a shorter day as the working relationship develops.

Flexibility is requested for occasional date night coverage, overnights, and family travel a few times per year.

Compensation: $38-$42 per hour, commensurate with experience. W-2 employment.

Requirements

• Maintain a smoke-free environment.

• Valid U.S. passport required (occasional international family travel).
• CPR and First Aid certified.
• COVID-19, flu, and general vaccinations required (for household health considerations).
• Robust childcare experience.
• Spanish-speaking a plus.

About Our Family

Based in Northridge, we are a warm, bustling, high-energy household that runs fast and is full of love. Between two demanding careers, work-related travel for both parents, a spirited 2-year-old gearing up for her first year of preschool, a Maltipoo, and a beloved grandmother who is very much at the heart of our home, every day is full, purposeful, and overflowing with the wonderful messiness that comes with raising a toddler.

We are deeply intentional about how our daughter learns, what nourishing food she eats, and the kind of home we are building for her. We take family dinners seriously and enjoy spending this quality time together and exposing our child to new foods to help shape and expand her palate.

While we currently have biweekly house cleaners and a daily dog walker, what has been missing is the person at the center of it all—someone who can hold the household alongside us, own the mental load, and bring calm, competence, and genuine warmth and positivity into our home every single day.

We are not looking for someone who views this role as just a job, but rather a long-term career—someone who can integrate into our family while still maintaining professional boundaries. We are looking for a true partner who is passionate about all areas of household management, from creating and maintaining organizational systems to meal prep, vendor coordination, travel support, and, most importantly, dedicated, nurturing childcare for our daughter.

Who You Are / What We're Looking For

You are highly observant and self-directed—you take pride in your work and feel true satisfaction from supporting others. You are positive, upbeat, and solutions-oriented—you also have a sense of humor about the chaos of family life, and you meet that chaos with a calm, grounded presence.

You have a warm, engaging energy, love working with 2-year-olds, and have deep expertise in toddler development, potty training, preschool transitions, and major developmental milestones. You describe yourself as playful and genuinely enjoy getting down on the floor and engaging with a toddler—this is not a task to you; it is one of your favorite aspects of the job. You're also a fan of smaller dogs and are comfortable scheduling vet and grooming appointments, as well as occasional dog walking. While not a requirement, it would be a major bonus if you have a strong background in swimming, speak Spanish, and are interested in helping nurture a young child's bilingual development.

The ideal person for this role is someone who naturally anticipates needs, easily prioritizes competing tasks, has high emotional intelligence, has excellent time management and organizational skills, and helps create an environment where the family feels truly supported, rather than needing to manage or delegate every detail or task. You take ownership, you communicate clearly, and you bring your whole self to the work. You are someone we can completely trust with the most important parts of our lives, most notably caring for our toddler.

Key Responsibilities

Family Support & Childcare

• Dedicated supervision and childcare when the child is not in school
• Handle school drop-offs and pick-ups
• Manage all kid-related errands and outings
• Plan and facilitate age-appropriate play and activities; map out weekend itineraries for the family
• Prep backpacks, clothing, and school snacks daily
• Provide date night coverage and occasional overnight support
• Travel with the family as needed, a few times per year including potential international travel

Meal Planning & Prep

• Prepare healthy, home-cooked family dinners five days per week with enough leftovers to carry through the weekend
• Prepare all meals and snacks for the toddler, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, following dietary guidelines (no cashews, almonds, or Brazil nuts)
• Prepare morning smoothies for the adults 5 days a week
• Handle all grocery shopping
• Kitchen cleanup and maintenance

Household Organization & Maintenance

• Create and maintain household organization systems
• Perform daily resets and light tidying (dishes, surfaces, toy pickup, high-traffic vacuuming)
• Prep the home for biweekly cleaners
• Manage seasonal clothing, decor, and bedding swaps
• Maintain and organize the child's wardrobe, tracking what she has outgrown and what needs to be purchased
• Coordinate donation drop-offs
• Handle event, holiday, and guest preparation
• Pack and unpack for travel (frequent for one parent, more occasional for the family)
• Care for indoor plants
• Replace batteries, light bulbs, and smoke detectors as needed
• Manage and maintain outdoor spaces, including the pool area

Admin & Personal Assistant Support

• Own family calendar management, including setting up and maintaining the household Skylight calendar to keep the whole family coordinated
• Coordinate travel logistics and planning as needed, working alongside the family's existing virtual assistant
• Manage event and appointment coordination, including all child-related scheduling
• Receipt/budget tracking for expenses incurred as house manager
• Oversee vendors, contractors, and cleaners; coordinate repairs, solicit quotes, and follow through on outstanding property maintenance items

Laundry & Linen Care

• Wash, fold, and organize laundry
• Iron and steam work clothing, and manage special garment care as needed
• Maintain a tidy and well-stocked laundry area

Inventory & Errands

• Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies
• Manage running lists and recurring subscriptions (Amazon, Costco, Target)
• Handle returns, dry cleaning, gift shopping, and other household errands as needed
• Mail and package management and box breakdown

Pet Care

• Serve as backup dog walker when the regular walker is unavailable
• Schedule vet and grooming appointments
• Maintain pet supplies as part of regular household stocking

Vehicle Upkeep

• Schedule and track maintenance for the family vehicle
• Handle fueling, cleaning, and organizing
• Track registration and insurance timelines

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

• Perform occasional deep cleans (fridge, oven, baseboards, humidifiers, air purifiers)
• Refresh entry, mudroom, and garage spaces as needed
• Take on organizational projects for toys, gear, and seasonal storage
