The Echocardiography Technologist performs high-quality transthoracic echocardiograms and other cardiac ultrasound procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. The technologist ensures patient safety, image quality, and compliance with Department of Defense (DoD), Joint Commission, and facility standards. The standard of care shall be of a quality, meeting or exceeding all recognized national standards.Vighter is a Service Disabled, Veteran Owned Small Business that is accredited by both the Joint Commission and ISO-9001. With our dedication to continuous improvement, Vighter assists in the provision of the highest standards of care.Principle Accountabilities:Perform high-quality transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE) according to physician orders and established protocols.Obtain accurate cardiac measurements, Doppler studies, and diagnostic images.Recognize and document abnormal cardiac findings for physician interpretation.Operate and maintain echocardiography equipment and ensure proper functionality.Perform quality assurance and equipment checks in accordance with facility policies.Document procedures accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).Follow infection control, HIPAA, radiation safety (when applicable), and patient safety guidelines.Collaborate with cardiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely patient care.Responsible for making routine calibration on equipment. Must recognize and report major equipment malfunctions within a timely manner. Ensure that all equipment is in proper working order prior to use. Removes and tags defective equipment and notifies Radiology Supervisor.Maintains records and files of exams performed on patients. Includes the maintenance of patient registration and editing of patient exams in the computerized information system.A deep sense of purpose and dedication to the United States and our U.S. Military Veterans, their Families, and other patients as assigned.An unshakeable adherence to quality and continuous process improvement.An apolitical, patient-centered focus that drives to enhanced care and patient satisfaction.Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII).Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time.Knowledge and Skills :Must have exceptional customer service skills.Employees shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the job requirements, including ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment with limited supervisionExcellent organizational, scheduling and prioritization skills.Education:Graduate from an approved program or School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.Qualifications:Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of experience in echocardiography specialty is required.Certification: Registration by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) is highly desirable.Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications are also desired. All continuing education courses required for maintaining certification must be kept up to date at all times.License: Have and maintain a valid, unrestricted license in any state, territory, or commonwealth of the U.S and/or certification as required.Duty Hours / On-call Requirements:The expected duty hours for this position are 8 hours per day, 5 days per week.
