As Product Counsel, you will serve as a trusted legal partner to product, engineering, business, compliance, and operations teams while helping shape innovative financial products for millions of consumers. Responsibilities: Serve as a day-to-day legal resource for product, engineering, and business teams. Advise on legal and regulatory considerations throughout the product lifecycle, including product development, implementation, marketing, and ongoing changes. Analyze federal and state consumer protection requirements and advise stakeholders on their application to products and business practices. Conduct legal research on emerging regulatory issues and provide concise, practical recommendations to business teams. Review consumer-facing disclosures, agreements, communications, advertising, and other materials. Advise on marketing, customer communications, and other consumer interactions under applicable federal and state requirements. Provide guidance regarding consumer privacy, data use, and information-sharing practices. Monitor developments in legislation, regulation, enforcement activity, and relevant court decisions and communicate significant developments to internal stakeholders. Support regulatory filings, licensing matters, examinations, and other interactions with government agencies as needed. Work collaboratively with compliance, risk, operations, marketing, product, and engineering teams to identify and address legal and regulatory considerations. Help establish practical legal frameworks and processes that allow teams to move efficiently while appropriately managing risk. Must-Have Skills: J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in the California state bar or eligibility to practice as registered in-house counsel in California. 5-8 years of legal experience, including significant experience at a law firm handling consumer protection, financial services regulation, regulatory compliance, or related in-house experience. Strong understanding of federal consumer protection laws and regulations, with experience applying those requirements to real-world business situations. Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills. Experience interpreting complex laws and regulations and communicating their practical implications to clients or business stakeholders. Experience advising on consumer-facing products, services, marketing, advertising, disclosures, or business practices. Practical, business-oriented approach to identifying and managing legal and regulatory risk. Nice-to-Have Skills: Experience advising companies in financial services, fintech, payments, lending, technology, or another regulated industry. Familiarity with consumer privacy laws, state-specific regulatory requirements, or regulatory examinations and licensing matters. Experience advising on emerging technology, including artificial intelligence or automated decision-making. Experience working in both law firm and in-house environments, or a strong interest in transitioning to an in-house role. #J-18808-Ljbffr Talently
