Diploma or Equivalent (Required) Experience 1 year of Medical Assistant experience (Preferred) Licenses and Certifications CMA - Certified Medical Assistant (Required) ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Preferred) BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support (Preferred) Job Responsibilities Under the direction of the health care provider, responsible for the delivery of patient care that promotes the safety and wellbeing of all patients. Perform general patient care by following established standards and procedures. Greet and prepare patients for the health care provider. Obtain and record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, current medications, and presenting problem. Administer ordered medications and/or vaccines via oral, injection, topical, rectal, ophthalmic, and/or inhalant routes. Draw and collect blood samples, prepare specimens for laboratory analysis and perform routine tests such as EKGs. Schedule patients for diagnostic testing and follow up to ensure completion of testing. Document patient plan(s) of care, tests and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider. Communicate with patient regarding test results and plan of care by phone or mail as directed by the provider. Prepare, clean and sterilize instruments, maintain equipment, and dispose of contaminated items according to protocol; keep patient exam rooms stocked, clean and orderly. Escalate non-routine issues, questions or concerns to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s). Ensure safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required. Provide for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights. May work in the front office as needed and perform other duties as assigned by staff or providers.
