Accounting Manager

We've partnered with the CFO of a privately held company to identify a hands‑on Accounting Manager for its Phoenix headquarters. This is an opportunity for a strong Accounting Manager who enjoys staying close to the work. Scope & Impact This individual will help oversee the company's day‑to‑day accounting and administrative operations while serving as a key partner to the CFO. The role requires someone who can think critically, solve problems independently, bring structure to competing priorities, and take genuine ownership of the work. Where You'll Add Value Manage monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close activities Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, financial statements, and supporting schedules Maintain the general ledger and support accurate GAAP‑based reporting Oversee customer billing, accounts payable, vendor administration, and daily bank reconciliations Prepare biweekly payroll and maintain related deductions, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and reporting Supervise administrative workflows and help ensure appropriate coverage and cross‑training Improve accounting processes, documentation, workflows, and internal controls Partner with operational teams on reporting, analysis, and issue resolution Support budgeting, forecasting, and other CFO‑led initiatives The Right Background 3+ years of progressive accounting experience Strong understanding of the general ledger, close process, reconciliations, and financial reporting Payroll and supervisory experience are highly valued Organized, resourceful, and comfortable managing several responsibilities simultaneously Able to investigate issues, determine solutions, and work without constant direction Strong Excel and accounting‑systems proficiency Experience in a fast‑paced, operationally complex environment is a plus You will have direct exposure to operating leadership, meaningful ownership, and the opportunity to help shape how a growing organization makes decisions.
