ASCP Certified Surgical Technologist
Join a dedicated surgical team as an ASCP Certified Surgical Technologist, where your expertise ensures smooth and safe surgical procedures in a well-equipped operating room. You will prepare the surgical environment with all necessary instruments, sutures, and supplies at least 15 minutes before each procedure, ensuring readiness and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare patient skin for surgery following established protocols.
- Participate actively in surgical TIME OUT procedures to guarantee patient safety.
- Handle and care for surgical specimens with precision and accuracy.
- Perform accurate counts of instruments, sponges, and needles, addressing discrepancies immediately.
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques during all treatments and procedures.
- Assist circulating RNs and surgeons by providing technical and manual support throughout surgical phases.
- Manage surgical instruments and equipment during intraoperative and postoperative periods.
- Collaborate with the operating room nursing team to maintain supplies and equipment readiness.
- Complete all required documentation promptly and in compliance with current standards and policies.
- Make informed decisions within the scope of practice, demonstrating sound judgment.
Additional Duties:
- Complete all assigned education, competencies, and training by deadlines.
- Maintain punctual and consistent attendance, actively participating in department meetings.
- Promote a culture of safety by adhering to safety guidelines and promptly reporting incidents.
- Follow all applicable codes of conduct, policies, and regulatory requirements including TJC, OSHA, HIPAA, CMS, and others.
- Deliver excellent customer service with a positive attitude, fostering teamwork and professionalism.
- Use only approved cleaning agents according to manufacturer instructions to maintain a safe environment.
Education and Experience:
- Completion of an accredited surgical technology program.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (e.g., CST or ASCP certification) preferred.
- Experience in an operating room setting is highly valued.
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of surgical instruments and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Commitment to patient safety and quality care.
