Network Engineer

ResponsibilitiesPeraton is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support our Department of Defense (DoD) / Intelligence Community (IC) customers as part of a highly talented, highly motivated, and high-performing team. Join us and be part of the next generation of innovators as we blaze a trail forward for our profession and company.What you'll do:Participate in Agile meetings (sprint planning, daily standups, sprint retrospectives, sprint reviews, etc.) and work in an Agile process to plan your work for future sprints and incrementsWork with teams across Group and customers to understand cloud networking requirements for upcoming projects; develop and document Wide Area Networks (WANs) / Local Area Networks (LANs)Provide support and guidance to the Tier teams on the identification, isolation and troubleshoot network anomalies.Track network system build-out status, specify and configure firewalls, switches, and routers, and support other systems and network engineering tasks, as required.Design and implement automation through scripting and other techniques to implement cloud network infrastructure and improve operational efficiencies.Create network architectures and designs that are highly available and scalable for new tenant systems and solutions to meet defined requirementsCoordinate with tenant to fully understand incident reported including documenting incident details in ticketing tool, assign as appropriate, and track through completion.Use state-of-the-art monitoring tools to gather insight and act upon resultsCreate network designs, implementation plans, operational documentation, and continual improvement of cloud network servicesEvaluate and recommend potential cloud networking solutions for inclusion into customer cloud service offerings and application migration solutions; participate in the procurement of network devices.QualificationsRequired qualifications:An active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and the ability to obtain or maintain a polygraph, if required. Associates degree in Engineering or Computer Technology and 7+ years of experience; OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Technology and 5+ years of network engineering experience; OR Master’s Degree and 3+ years of network engineering experience. An additional four (4) years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.Candidate must meet DoD 8140 intermediate requirements for a Network Operations Specialist work role at an advanced or above proficiency.Experience supporting designing, building, and maintaining networks in a classified environment.Experience configuring VLANS, VPNs, firewalls/switches/routers (Cisco, Arista, Brocade, Juniper, Palo Alto, etc.), networking and using network management functions and tools.Secures network and maintains device software up to date in accordance with DOD policies.Strong understanding of IP addressing and subnetting.You have 3-5 years of experience operating/maintaining/troubleshooting DoD encryption/COMSEC equipment.Background in supporting software and/or network operations with a clear understanding of networking fundamentalsDesired qualifications:You are able to effectively communicate both with customers and technical staff.You have experience working with UNIX and/or LINUX systems in a network environment.Experience creating, modifying, and troubleshooting Ansible playbooks for system configuration and/or system sustainment activities (e.g. patching)Strong problem solving and decision-making ability.You are detail/process oriented, can multi-task, and the ability to work with minimal supervisionYou have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with management, the customer and user organizations across DoDBenefits:Peraton offers enhanced benefits to employees working on this critical National Security program, which include heavily subsidized employee benefits coverage for you and your dependents, 25 days of PTO accrued annually up to a generous PTO cap and eligible to participate in an attractive bonus plan#MetroplexPeraton OverviewPeraton is a next-generation national security company that drives missions of consequence spanning the globe and extending to the farthest reaches of the galaxy. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
