Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) to join a Critical Access Hospital serving a rural Wisconsin community. This role provides high-quality emergency nursing care to patients of all ages, utilizing strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills in a fast-paced environment.

The Emergency Department RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and triage according to acuity levels.
• Provide emergency nursing care for patients experiencing acute illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies.
• Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as prescribed.
• Monitor patient conditions and promptly respond to changes in clinical status.
• Assist with emergency stabilization and life-saving interventions.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and healthcare team members to coordinate patient care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention, safety, and quality standards.
• Participate in emergency response and trauma care situations as needed.

Schedule Details

• Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 72 hours per bi-weekly pay period (0.9 FTE)
• Rotating schedule includes 2 out of every 3 weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
• Holiday rotation required

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Previous Emergency Department experience preferred.
• Current BLS certification required.
• ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications preferred or required per facility policy.
• Strong assessment, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a rural Critical Access Hospital setting.
