Date: March 5, 2025

Primary Function: The Respiratory Therapist is a Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRT) and/or a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) directly responsible to the Director of Cardiopulmonary Services. The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing all respiratory therapies and all cardiac diagnostic services to patients under their care. He/she will provide patient care through the process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. As a member of the Mason District Hospital's Cardiopulmonary Department, the Respiratory Therapist is expected to participate in the hospital-wide Performance Improvement/Quality Program.

Responsibilities:

1. Maintains professional appearance with good grooming and hygiene, in accordance with hospital standards
2. Foster a professional and confidential relationship with staff, encouraging open communication, trust, and a high standard of professionalism within the department
3. and the hospital.
4. Perform respiratory assessments as often as ordered and necessary
5. Obtain orders and perform nebulizer treatments
6. Obtain orders and place the patient on Bipap or a ventilator
7. Obtain orders for, schedule, and perform the following outpatient tests: Stress testing, pulmonary function testing, EKGs, Holter, Event, and Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring
8. Obtain orders and place the appropriate oxygen delivery device and amount, as well as monitor O2 saturation as ordered and at the RT and RN's discretion.
9. Keep in close communication with RN's regarding patient respiratory status
10. Scan EKGs and stress testing paperwork and strips into EMR.
11. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy.
2. Current CRT and/or RRT credentials by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
3. Must be licensed in the state of Illinois
4. CPR certified
5. ACLS certified or willing to become certified.
6. Desire to exceed current knowledge of Cardiopulmonary Care.
7. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
8. Able to complete the orientation program. (Each individual is responsible for making his/her needs known in order for appropriate in servicing and continuing education programs to be presented.)
9. Computer skills sufficient to document, charge, and order through Mason District Hospital's electronic health record.
10. Must pass drug screening.
