Who We Are Since 1985, Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program (BHCHP) has been dedicated to ensuring equitable and dignified access to the highest quality health care for all individuals and families experiencing homelessness in greater Boston. Job Summary A Nurse Manager (NM) leads clinical operations while delivering compassionate, high‑quality care to youth and families experiencing homelessness. This role combines clinical expertise with operational leadership, overseeing daily functions at Family Team sites and providing direct patient care. The position offers a $4,000 sign‑on bonus. Hours Full time; Monday–Friday 8:30 am–5:00 pm. Responsibilities Deliver pediatric and adult patient care, including assessments, interventions, and health education. Manage quality improvement initiatives, regulatory compliance, and vaccine program. Supervise RNs and Medical Assistants, ensuring excellence in clinical operations. Support public health measures tailored to youth and families experiencing homelessness. Provide direct patient care, complete assessments, develop and implement interventions, monitor progress, and evaluate effectiveness. Conduct triage and nursing assessments for walk‑in patients. Address health gaps and concerns for patients and families. Support and collaborate with case managers to ensure patients adhere to care plans. Deliver health education to patients and site staff, focusing on health promotion and disease prevention. Organize screenings and vaccination clinics as needed. Manage regulatory compliance of clinical supplies and medications, including ordering, tracking, and expiration checks. Oversee adherence to local, state, and federal healthcare regulations. Serve as Vaccine Manager, overseeing the use and compliance of the Vaccines for Children program. Serve as team leader for partner programs such as Reach Out and Read, the MA State Lead Testing Program, and Health Care Consultant for Horizons for Homeless Children. Develop and implement policies and procedures in collaboration with the Family Team and BHCHP Leadership. Monitor clinical operations, ensuring high‑quality care. Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes. Participate in public health efforts tailored to families and youth experiencing homelessness. Lead and mentor Family Team RNs and Medical Assistants to foster professional growth. Oversee Family Clinic services in collaboration with BHCHP and Family Team leadership. Transport and distribute supplies, medications, and vaccines to and from various sites. Contribute to BHCHP committees (Clinical Operations, Management, Quality & Efficiency) focused on clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and quality improvement. Serve as a resource and mentor, supporting staff in professional development, equity, and diversity training. Qualifications Registered Nurse with a current Massachusetts license. Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible nursing experience. Pediatric nursing experience strongly preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of generalist/medical‑surgical/community nursing experience. Valid driver’s license and access to a car for travel between sites. Leadership experience with demonstrated management ability. Experience working with underserved populations, including youth and families experiencing homelessness. Outreach nursing experience preferred. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish, Haitian Creole, or other languages commonly spoken by the population served; additional compensation for demonstrated bilingual proficiency. Compensation and Benefits The compensation is based on years of experience and ranges from $42.60–$68.15 per hour. BHCHP employees are eligible for a competitive time‑off program, health, dental, and vision insurance, a 403(b) retirement savings plan, a pre‑tax MBTA pass program with a 40 % discount, and additional compensation for bilingual proficiency. Benefits are prorated for part‑time employees.
